I've switched many of my open-source projects to yearly release cycles, and honestly, it's great.
Turns out software development is much more enjoyable when you stop pretending every Tuesday is a historic event.
Instead of switching contexts 8 times a day, I now switch projects about once a month.
Lame-duck Congress might actually do something: speed up energy projects https://www.theverge.com/policy/1028228/energy-infrastructure-permitting-reform-bill-congress-vote
@ivan@bonfire.cafe @deadsuperhero@fedizen.net Is this the same issue as described here? github.com/bonfire-networks/...
@ccamara@bonfire.cim.warwick.ac.uk @ivan@bonfire.cafe Yep, this seems to be the same issue.
I am in the curry house
@llamasoft_ox Is it the same curry house every week, or do you travel around to try them all?
My annual purchase of the latest edition of the geekiest book on my shelves arrived today, and I am fully nerded out.
Goodbye cybertruck! https://www.cnbc.com/2026/11/06/tesla-cybertruck-texas-musk.html?msockid=11d8649b455b6ef4009a7c9244a76fa8
I wont miss it.
This is a bummer because I'm sure there are a TON of passionate and talented people at Tesla who just REALLY want to make cool stuff, but as long as the company is tied to Musk, and has to cater to his whims, we'll see that incredible talent wasted.
This company should be leading the way on the bleeding edge of EV tech, but instead it's being squandered on pet projects like this now-cancelled truck, and being leveraged for AI investor bait.
Make bad ass cars and sell them to people, Should be that simple. Ending the cybertruck isn't going to get them refocused on making better cars. Instead they want to focus on robots and taxis.
Now I wont touch anything Tesla until Musk is completely removed from the brand.
@SomeGadgetGuy if we can count on one thing it's Elon letting down his fans
Hannah Aubry is leaving Mastodon after her time with us as community director and board member. We’re very grateful for her contributions, ideas, and commitment to Mastodon and the fediverse. Thank you, Hannah! We wish you all the very best for what comes next.
Sort of been in this place for awhile, though I've been in other comments. It's not as common around here. Just have to move forward, somewhere in North, something about the place. Or I can go back to Navi altogether in one piece.
Streamed for over an hour with broken synth output. Nobody made a beep :)
Motorola has announced their new high end flagship phone including upcoming official support for GrapheneOS as an OS option.
Motorola Signature 27 will be the first Motorola device supported by GrapheneOS. More devices will be supported in the future.
@GrapheneOS Congrats! I'll have to wait for a more affordable model, but it's exciting to see Graphene options from Motorola.
I made some (visual) digital collages about annoying computer and internet things, then turned them into harsh noise.
Warning: it's very loud

oh
i actually did not post most of the collages on bandcamp because, well, it is not a great place to post pictures lol.
@adam hell yeah!
The really wretched part about looking for work these days is knowing what AI costs.
It's sitting in interviews with people who think of themselves as progressive, socially and environmentally conscious, who'd never in a thousand years say proudly that this staggering scale of theft, exploitation, pollution and destruction is an acceptable price to pay for toy apps and mediocre prose, that it's all worth it, ask me "how do you feel about using AI?"
How should I feel?
Why is it called eth0 if we 802.11 in default via 204.2.68.1 dev wlan0 out

When covid started I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t on Twitter or reddit or Facebook. I was in college, doing that and had a baby. We watched cartoons and when they slept I’d read and write. I had no idea until no one was on the road or at Walmart with me. I had no idea how to even get information about what was happening, so I went to the county website and found nothing. my professors stopped livestreaming and sent helpful information about it the same week so I got it.
Turned out the city had a Facebook page that people were getting their information from. And there was also a Twitter.
Then my kid gets to be school aged. The fucking school used Facebook and twitter to communicate with parents. I missed so many programs, and lacked information about everything that happened there.
Fucking hate it.

Government must move away from toxic social media platforms | Open Rights Group [Video]
We shouldn’t be forced to use toxic platforms that track and profile us in order to get public information.
Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube track and profile their users so that they can target advertising towards them.
Their business models fuel online harms by pushing more and more extreme content to users. Despite this, these platforms are one of the primary ways that government departments share public information.
Tell your MP to support the EDM calling on the UK Government to ensure that all public sector social media content is published on open, decentralised and federated platforms!
