I’ve published another update on my work in GNOME Design and Community Management as part of my Sovereign Tech Fellowship. I’m especially excited about the progress on passkey support in GNOME and the libadwaita changes from the scale row standardization work. Check out the full blog post!

@chris I think having your own domain is worth it and if Mastodon were smart eventually they'd add support for multiple domains on one instance. But especially if you want to look like an expert or put your resume on your website and things of that nature, having your own instance is nice.

Read this story and you will understand how far warmongers have gone. "Middle class" Westerners are far more deep than we believe in a mood of total destruction. They play simulation games and are going to destroy the whole world.
Their mindset has focused on a total catastrophe instead of global peace, because they serve the industrial-military complex in any way they can. And these persons (because of their positions) put the whole society into this mindset.
We, as working class, have nothing to do with these thugs. Their goal is to reproduce our misery in order to keep the capitalist normality as it is. Our goal must be to destroy all their games and plans...

They don’t need to choose a platform. They have to be forced to put all public-facing communication onto their website without exception. From there, they or anyone else who wants to can copy it to any platform there is.

When covid started I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t on Twitter or reddit or Facebook. I was in college, doing that and had a baby. We watched cartoons and when they slept I’d read and write. I had no idea until no one was on the road or at Walmart with me. I had no idea how to even get information about what was happening, so I went to the county website and found nothing. my professors stopped livestreaming and sent helpful information about it the same week so I got it.
Turned out the city had a Facebook page that people were getting their information from. And there was also a Twitter.
Then my kid gets to be school aged. The fucking school used Facebook and twitter to communicate with parents. I missed so many programs, and lacked information about everything that happened there.
Fucking hate it.

For me, its also about freedom of speech/reach. Both, I can say what I want, popular or not, and I don't have to worry about my site cutting off my followers or following if their site - not even the user - behaves badly.

Something that has genuinely improved in consumer tech over the past decade:
You can carry a little brick with you that extends the battery life of pretty much any device, even a full-on laptop gets a few extra hours out of it.
For those who don't remember: laptops all had their own bulky chargers that were largely incompatible with each other.
For a while, they still had clip-in batteries you could swap quickly, but you had to interrupt your work and power them down to do it (except on some high end machines), and when that feature went away, you were just screwed without a charger and a power outlet.
