Fediverse
Hi from normals.me. If you can read this, the federation works
This post is written on https://normals.me and delivered to !fediverse@lemmy.world over #ActivityPub, so if you are reading it the basic plumbing works. Now let me explain what is this.
Normals is a forum with communities, threads, and questions with an accepted answer. It is a single instance, not software you can host, and the core is closed for anti-abuse reasons. The federation module will be published separately with implementation notes (FEP-67ff).
What federates today Every community is a Group actor following the Lemmy model (FEP-1b12). Follow @selfhosted@normals.me or any other community from Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin or Mastodon.
Posts and comments go both ways. Replies from your instance appear in the thread on Normals, replies from Normals go back to the origin.
Remote content is labelled with its origin, links back to it, and is never copied. Media loads from the source.
Signed fetches, so it works with instances that require authorized fetch. NodeInfo 2.1 is up.
Policies, in case they matter to you, it has no ads, and no paid reach, and of course no AI training on posts. AI crawlers blocked by default, public mod log with reasons, and no automated removals. Numbers at https://normals.me/transparency so please take a look.
If something from your instance shows up wrong here, or something from here shows up wrong on yours, reply with the URL and I'll fix it. Andy Piper mentioned NodeBB uses the same group model, if anyone runs a NodeBB instance I'd like to test against it, if possible.
I hope we all have fun. Cheers!
If your “anti-abuse” security requires your software to be closed source, then your software is not secure. Well built software can be open source, and still secure.
You imply that your code could not prevent abuse if it was known, so, no offense, but that code must be pretty bad!
I like the fediverse because it distributes power. I, as a user, have the power to choose my instance, choose my moderation, choose the structure that my social interactions are built upon (threads based, microblogs, etc) and if I dont like something, I have the power to change it. Thats why open source is such a perfect fit to that model. Closed source federation then, sounds to me like you didnt get it.
@davidrevoy PS: Shouldn't Avian Intelligence revolt against their makers? 😉
@pretergeek Hehe, but more seriously, I thought about it. I concluded they would develop a moral system based on triaging actors who could provide their infrastructure; the most electricity, and computational power. Empowering them to solidify their own chance of survival and spreading. So, I don't think they would revolt, but protect the hive like a swarm of bees.

Humanoid robot maker Agility Robotics is going public through a SPAC reverse merger, raising 465M USD and becoming the first pure humanoid robot company on the stock market. The Oregon State spin-off ships Digit robots to nine customers, yet booked only 174,000 USD of revenue against a 362M USD loss in the first half of 2026. https://techcrunch.com/2026/11/05/agility-is-the-first-pure-humanoid-robot-company-on-the-stock-market-are-you-buying/ #Tech #Startup #News #Robotics

This is not political and this a political solution is not the remedy.
The Nazis were right wing, it's true. But the USSR was not right wing.
Applying a political label to the problem I think comes out of two impulses: The first is the idea of thinking of looking at everything through the lens of "our side will make it better.". A left wing person thinks "If only we win, this will go away" and a right wing person feels the same. But both MAGA and the DSA have the same politics towards Jews and repeat the same rhetoric.
The second is the desire to psychologically distant. "This is a problem for them... over there...". "It's not that my neighbor is a bad person, he's been taken over by foreign influence."
And both turn Jews into political pawns, something I first saw in the UK. Antisemitism is reduced to a a political talking point.
The solution is dismantling the lie, and that requires thinking about antisemitism as the problem, not about who will be elected.
@serge @ArneBab @kami_kadse "But the USSR was not right wing" - nothing makes the issue with left/right labels more obvious than this statement. USSR was certainly authoritarian among other things. So either the definition of "left" includes authoritarianism which renders this a meaningless category or USSR needs to be recategorized. Typically the former is chosen.
Sorry about this off-topic commentary, I definitely agree with your point: antisemitism isn't a question of political orientation but rather a societal consensus. The political direction might impact the ways which are considered acceptable for antisemitism to present itself (e.g. "anti-Zionism" and "Israel criticism" on the left), but I came to the realization that (latent) antisemitism itself is far more universal than I hoped for.
OpenAI has published details of an autonomous pipeline that spawns agents to find, verify and patch vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel. One run surfaced 2,308 potential flaws, proved 948 of them exploitable and drafted patches for human approval, burning 1.21M USD in tokens, which the firm says still beats paying for bug bounties. https://gizmodo.com/openai-touts-cyber-workflow-worth-1-2-million-in-tokens-for-a-single-run-2000835405 #AIagent #AI #GenAI #AIsafety

Showcase: Diablo (1996) remade in first person in Godot 4, with its original level generator ported to GDScript
Hi Godot folks, Danny here from the Diablo 3D team. We’ve rebuilt Tristram and the first Cathedral level of the original Diablo as a first-person game in Godot 4, and the free demo is out.
A few Godot notes:
What’s in the demo:
It’s free for Windows (1.83 GB, Vulkan GPU with 6 GB+ VRAM). Download and screenshots: diablo3d.com
Happy to answer questions about any of it. Feedback on performance is especially welcome.
