@vga256 They’re such wonderful creatures. Never has a living organism seemed so strange to me - I can relate to the lives of all bugs, fish and reptiles better than I can relate to these things. Beautiful and enigmatic like nothing else.

@draco it's certainly possible. I mean, a majority of students does it outside of math-heavy degrees where TeX is common.
But I really wouldn't want to, especially with how unreliable newer versions of it have becomes
@aesthr I'm so glad I switched back to Linux last year, and I'm pretty impressed with LibreOffice.
For my own writing, Markdown and LaTeX are my formats of choice, so, yeah, I get it.

who, or what, is “andy piper”?
I'm writing my thesis with tools that are 20 years old or older. Heck, a central piece of it is a Makefile. And I feel a lot more chill about it than a lot of them tbh, because I have confidence in my tools and my skills.

As an experiment, I've put a honeypot / trap in a location which is *only* listed in the robots.txt "Disallow" section. I wonder how many bots will trigger it?

As a kid I was very puzzled to learn in history class that people in the past would attend public hangings.
Seemed such a ghastly thing to me, why would anyone go out of their way to witness such horrors?
I get it now.

Also, he hasn't posted recently.
This morning, I messaged him to ask how he was doing. Surprisingly, he replied immediately. Why I was surprising was that it was morning in Japan, but 3 AM in Gaza.
He said:
"I have nowhere to sleep.
I'm on the street, I can't sleep here."
I'm astonished and ask him:
"You mean that now you have no place to rest in the midnight? How awful!"
His answer:
"Yes, brother, that's true. I have another tiring day tomorrow. I couldn't find a place. I'm tired of that."
I wanted to know the environment he was in as possible as in detail, so I asked him to take a picture of the surrounding scenery and send it to me. Then he sent me the attached image with his message:
"There's nothing there, it's too dark."
I lost my words.
My friend, mahmod is in absolute dire straits right now.
He's been thrown out onto the street in the middle of the night, wandering under the dark sky without any shelter.
Nevertheless he is keeping silent in madtodon.
What a teriffing silence!
But I think there are many silences as him here.
