Federated social app: Discord-style servers and chat with ActivityPub.

I don’t remember hearing of it till now, yet it claims a lot of desired features. Github page shows only one contributor, one fork, 44 stars; lot of commits in the last week, oldest 3 years ago; GNU Affero General Public Licence v3.0.

This post is written on https://normals.me and delivered to !fediverse@lemmy.world over #ActivityPub, so if you are reading it the basic plumbing works. Now let me explain what is this.

Normals is a forum with communities, threads, and questions with an accepted answer. It is a single instance, not software you can host, and the core is closed for anti-abuse reasons. The federation module will be published separately with implementation notes (FEP-67ff).

What federates today Every community is a Group actor following the Lemmy model (FEP-1b12). Follow @selfhosted@normals.me or any other community from Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin or Mastodon.

Posts and comments go both ways. Replies from your instance appear in the thread on Normals, replies from Normals go back to the origin.

Remote content is labelled with its origin, links back to it, and is never copied. Media loads from the source.

Signed fetches, so it works with instances that require authorized fetch. NodeInfo 2.1 is up.

Policies, in case they matter to you, it has no ads, and no paid reach, and of course no AI training on posts. AI crawlers blocked by default, public mod log with reasons, and no automated removals. Numbers at https://normals.me/transparency so please take a look.

If something from your instance shows up wrong here, or something from here shows up wrong on yours, reply with the URL and I'll fix it. Andy Piper mentioned NodeBB uses the same group model, if anyone runs a NodeBB instance I'd like to test against it, if possible.

I hope we all have fun. Cheers!

I grew green cotton. It’s a variety called Davis Green that is a cross between a wild #Louisiana green cotton and Pima cotton. The color is subtle now but will deepen once it’s spun and again once I give it a soak with a little bit of detergent. I don’t have a lot of it yet—I planted them late in the season so the plants are small. The fibers are a bit longer and noticeably silkier than my #Florida native cotton, I assume due to the Pima genes. #Fibers #FiberArts #spinning

Do you need clips of snow leopards cuddling? Yes. Yes, you do :3

> One lesson that I hope we take away from last night is that cash spending advantages aren’t what they used to be. Elon spent around half a billion. Crypto and AI interests spend $250 million. It was all wasted. The media environment isn’t nearly as straightforward as it used to be. An advertising blitz simply cannot sway people who aren’t watching live television anyway.

Optimization is fun!

I got from 4 million simulation runs maxing out my 32GB of RAM and crashing R to 400 million runs needing only about 4GB and from over a minute for each full simulation to under 20 seconds.

Trope du personnage qui doit se défaire de toutes ses armes et passe 5min à en extirper une quantité invraisemblable d'endroits improbables, mais avec des lunettes de piscine et du sérum phy

He’s watching. Do not speak to andy piper, andy piper speaks to you only if he wishes.

who, or what, is “andy piper”?

@leah Thank you!

@EUCommission
The EU was hardly ever about the E, and the only U they care about is for the rich.

If you think choosing tailwind forces you into a certain style of website, you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.

And you clearly haven’t just used AI for tests. I wonder if the source is closed because you know how obviously AI generated it would look if it was open source?

Closed source and clearly completely vibe coded? Just look at the site, it reeks of AI. Even this post has so much AI-speech.

Yea, no thanks.

Big release for us at @Vivaldi. This release is for your computer and includes a rather big update to the tracker and ad blocker.
