@dsalo That's one I haven't got to yet actually! I started Pratchett late, and now that it's definitely a finite set I'm not rushing through. 😄 But it is on my shelf -- this may be a sign for it to be my next bus read.

@loke Yes! DEF CON SG 2, March 4-6 2027. We have already announced it, registration is open for con and training. The CFPs should open up this weekend, and first wave of accepted villages and communities are being updated.

Just popping in to say hi :3

Here's a fact I want you to carry with you for the next two years, and I want you to infect as many other people as you can with this fact.

The world's richest man spent about as much on this election, relatively speaking, as a median US voter under 35 would spend dining for two at McDonalds.

Half a billion dollars, relative to his reported wealth, is roughly equivalent to about $20 relative to the net worth of the median US resident under 35. This cannot be allowed to continue.

reminder - the key tell of fake anti-AI groups is: they never advocate abolition, only moderation. then it's a front group every time.

second tell is money. high paid staff and jobs. there's no fuckin money in this except from Effective Altruists and AI vendors.

here's the quick guide in three posts:

https://pivot-to-ai.com/2026/09/02/your-guide-to-astroturf-fake-anti-ai-groups/
https://pivot-to-ai.com/2026/09/10/jacob-coxon-how-to-run-an-ai-doomsday-media-campaign/

that last one starts with me getting a pitch from the EAs

This post is written on https://normals.me and delivered to !fediverse@lemmy.world over #ActivityPub, so if you are reading it the basic plumbing works. Now let me explain what is this.

Normals is a forum with communities, threads, and questions with an accepted answer. It is a single instance, not software you can host, and the core is closed for anti-abuse reasons. The federation module will be published separately with implementation notes (FEP-67ff).

What federates today Every community is a Group actor following the Lemmy model (FEP-1b12). Follow @selfhosted@normals.me or any other community from Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin or Mastodon.

Posts and comments go both ways. Replies from your instance appear in the thread on Normals, replies from Normals go back to the origin.

Remote content is labelled with its origin, links back to it, and is never copied. Media loads from the source.

Signed fetches, so it works with instances that require authorized fetch. NodeInfo 2.1 is up.

Policies, in case they matter to you, it has no ads, and no paid reach, and of course no AI training on posts. AI crawlers blocked by default, public mod log with reasons, and no automated removals. Numbers at https://normals.me/transparency so please take a look.

If something from your instance shows up wrong here, or something from here shows up wrong on yours, reply with the URL and I'll fix it. Andy Piper mentioned NodeBB uses the same group model, if anyone runs a NodeBB instance I'd like to test against it, if possible.

I hope we all have fun. Cheers!

@andypiper IKR!!

@mm I suppose it depends on how hard something is impacting your pelvic floor.

@lightweight That reminds me of Dan Janzen’s take on this, in the context of saving wild tropical forests and all of their extraordinary species. It’s a pragmatic “use it or lose it” philosophy.

“Why can't the wild tropical species be left “out in the wild” to fend for themselves? Because the wild is at humanity's mercy. Humanity now owns life on Earth. It plans the world, albeit with an unintended here and an uninformed there. Until the Pleistocene, not more than a few thousandths of 1 percent of the Earth's surface was ours. Today it all is. If we place those species anywhere other than in a human safe zone, they will continue in their downward spiral as grist in the human mill, just as they have for the past 10,000 years.”

It was. And they’ve also erased its generated disclosures.

If the author’s profile is any indication, it’s likely Harmony was written using AI:

It’s wild that just the thumbnail alone can tell you it’s vibe-coded.

hi from jlai.lu!

Yay! Thank you, I appreciate the comment! It seems to work!
