One thing that I learned from @aeva is to have a ~/sandbox directory in your home directory, and just dump all throwaway WIP things in it. And never remove anything from it!

Sometimes I come back to all sorts of little experiments and they turn out to be really helpful! It's easier to remember how an idea works when you look at the experiment you actually did
