@aphyr did you have to give up cast iron? if so, how do you feel about that?
@wohali I still have an enameled cast iron pan, and a cast iron griddle. They both work, but I really notice the temperature differential--the steel/aluminum clad pans have nice even heat all the way across and up the sides, whereas the cast iron has a definite hot "ring", and the middle of the griddle is basically useless, even 30 minutes into cooking.

uh, do you know why CRABS make great DOPPELGANGERS?
do you know why CRABS have so many CLONING FACILITIES?!?!?!
Took me a couple weeks but I think I'm getting the hang of induction and doing everything on stainless steel. They were right--it really is faster and more precise than gas. I'm working on preheating my pans and have switched out to higher smoke point oils, and I can get pancakes and omelettes to slide right off now.
Still getting the hang of temperature levels--turns out a lot of my intuition was based on looking at the flame. Gotta keep practicing.
@aphyr Awesome! I think the sound of the metal hitting glass would be the biggest hurdle for me.
That and my cast iron skillets.

Today's Low Quality Ad is for this Swamp Puppy Pin. It is technically legal to have a service alligator, but only if you live in Florida. And you do not need to be disabled to have one, because legally speaking, being from Florida is a disability.

In the SEIU v. USDOJ case, the one concerning an injunction to Trump regime to stop threatening election workers and officials with prosecution, a very unusual process is now occurring.
The Ninth Circuit consists of 29 judges total. When an en banc hearing is held, in the first instance only a subset of these hears the case. That’s what happened earlier today, when the subgroup lifted the injunction. 1/ #LawFedi
The 9th Circuit does provide for “super en banc” review, whereby all 29 judges participate. This virtually never happens. But SEIU moved for it following the subgroup order. Now the Circuit has order DOJ to respond. https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/75054424/36/service-employees-international-union-et-al-v-doj-united-states/ 2/

Seems Merz doesn't understand the difference between data-residency and data-sovereignty. Nor does he understand the scope of Trump's 2017 CLOUD act, which expressly states any data in any datacenter that is the property of a US corporation, regardless of where it physically resides in the world, can ultimately be accessed by US statecraft, on demand.
There is no 'data sovereignty' with GAFAM. Ever.

@JulianOliver It wasn't until Trump that I truly realized the extent of Europe's subservience—especially that of the European right-wingers, and most notably Germany.
Historically speaking, Germany is a vassal state of the U.S., and that pushes the EU into a kind of subservience as well.
The fact that Merz was an executive at Blackstone further confirms what is known as the acculturation of political elites, making them more susceptible to—or more easily manipulated by—the dictates of the dominant country.
@RachelThornSub a controversial, but nevertheless pivotal figure in tech. Richard M Stallman. He invented Free/Libre software, which was later rebranded 'open source' by corporate interests (which is why I have to spit when I say it), but which is why I use the term in this thread because it's what mainstream media, naturally, have comprehensively adopted. Along with 'hacker' as a bogeyman IT terrorist. Both strengthening my case.
@lightweight Oh, Stallman. Okay. Thank you.
