Happy voting day folks!
Slowly emptying a bookshelf over at dad's place every week and sorting them out at my place to see if they're of any value and if not I can donate them to the thrift store. 99,99% of those books aren't really valuable, it's amazing how many you can find for 1 euro over at Vinted. There's a lot of books, 8 bookcases full... the thrift stores are going to be very happy.
Sometimes I glance at the first few pages of a book if the theme seems somewhat interesting enough. And if one makes me smile or snigger, maybe I should keep that book a little bit longer in my possession until I'm sure on whether I'm really going to read them or not.
That first scene in Captain's Corelli's Mandoline was so absurd enough that I won't get rid of that one quite yet. I actually kinda want to know how that ends. Just don't know when I'll actually go read it, I need to get rid of the nicotine smell first, ugh.

I am, personally, very good at telling malignant men to fuck off. The trick is to not make that an exercise in ladder-pulling.
There are a lot of different types of women in the world. Most of them would not feel comfortable approaching the problem of male toxicity with my attitude, which is, "I've pegged tougher men than you and half of them were little babies about it." Critically, *those women shouldn't have to.* That should not be the cover charge for participating in society as a woman. I do not accept being put on a pedestal like "see, it *is* possible to be a woman in software, you just have to be like Maddie!"
No, we only have equality when women can be not-like-Maddie and still be treated with a baseline expectation of competence and worthiness. We need lots of not-like-Maddie women here.
We do not need the men bullying them. Which is why I think part of my value is chasing those dudes out.

Fellow U.S. folks, if you haven’t voted, please do so today. Fingers crossed.
Comet PanSTARRs and Rainbow Meteor
Explanation: Did this meteor come from that comet? Probably not. Although many meteors do originate from comets, there are thousands of comets that have visited the inner Solar System recently, and matching meteors to them can be tricky. And to be clear, the pictured comet is far behind the streaking meteor. Comet C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS) was captured from Hautacam, France in April when the giant space iceberg sported impressive ion (blue) and dust tails. Sand-sized rocky debris that enters Earth’s atmosphere typically appears as meteors, while the colorful foreground streak here may indicate a complicated composition. This month three notable meteor showers will reach their peaks. Over the next few days, the Southern Taurids will be reaching their apex, while the Northern Taurids will top out about a week later. Both originate from Comet 2P/Encke. November is most famous for the Leonids Meteor Shower, though, which originates from Comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle and will reach its crescendo in about two weeks.
