Guy in the cafe I’m in just took out his phone and started blasting whatever movie or TV show he’s watching with a laugh track.
Thing is, I’m on my MacBook Pro. This thing goes loud. I’m so tempted to give him a taste of his own medicine right now.

@framlin Ich kenne bisher nur wenige, die es geschafft haben, dass aus "KI verantwortlich nutzen" nicht binnen Monaten unverantwortbare Nutzung wurde.
Die Werkzeuge sind leider gerade nicht neutral, sondern darauf ausgerichtet, maximale Abhängigkeit zu erzeugen. Anders können sie die wahnsinnigen Investitionen nicht wieder reinholen.

Ich glaube, das ist nur jetzt grad der LLM - Hype.
Ich bin da optimistischer, dass nachdem die Blase geplatzt ist und sich die Nebel gelichtet haben. Es gab ja vor 2022 schon ne Menge KI-Forschung und durch den ChatGPT-Moment hat jetzt die ganze Welt gelernt, dass KI richtig viel kann. Das wird dann auch diejenigen voranbringen, die all die anderen machine-learning Verfahren nutzen (und darunter nicht nur die social-media Plattformen).

if it matters at all, idk if it does, but fwiw, my gpu is only the integrated intel graphics with my i7 cpu, not a dedicated graphics card
like i suggested before, maybe it's just not worth any more time spent by you on investigating?

@MsDropbear42 if the 90% usage of the integrated GPU does not lead to high temperatures then it can be acceptable, but i think, overall, it's a good idea to add a "disable animations" option. And i'm OK with all your feedbacks, don't worry ;)

Is there a way to not see duplicate of the same topic across different communities?
Hi everyone!
I’m really enjoying the Fediverse through Lemmy and Peertube.
Two creators I enjoy and follow on the Fediverse are Dash and Gardiner Bryant (both work on The Bryant Review) as their content is really enjoyable.
Sadly they are the target of my post as they shares their content on many different communities that I follow.
Today I had 5 times the same topic on RetroDeck (great project too) on my feed on Lemmy (Voyager).
It is the same on PieFed (Interstellar).
This is really annoying and I haven’t found a way to not show these duplicates. Do you know about one or is it worked on?
Also when crossposting, it would be great if everything appeared under on post. Is it feasible?
Sorry if it’s easy and I just missed it. In a way I hope it is because it would mean that the Fediverse is festure rich😇
Edit: Added Dash as she was in fact the one who published the article. Also it appears that the issue is only on mobile apps since both the browser of Lemmy and PieFed don’t have it.
We hear about all of this money being spent on swaying voters in elections but HOW is it being spent? Mostly on ads.
You could instead spend the money organizing and get much more bang for your buck. Hold public planning meetings, serve snacks, listen to people talk about what they care about and then act on those things.
The snacks and renting the pool hall cost much less than a TV ad. And you get more devoted followers ... but you need to listen.
The steps to building a people powered movement aren't some big secret. We know what needs to be done and that it can work.
But, it leads to very different policy outcomes than the politician/party as brand model.
To the extent that I ever like politicians, which is a very rare thing, it's because they take steps that show they are able to listen to the people who vote for them.

I don't know how legal any of this is, and I'm not going to get into that. But I can't help smiling at the reactions.
When they started pushing AI, they told us we would lose our jobs, whether we liked it or not. That AI would replace us, whether we liked it or not.
Now that someone has decided to apply the very same principle to their products, suddenly they don't like it anymore.

And that's the point. The problem isn't the technology itself, but the way certain sharks use it at other people's expense. When they're the ones on the receiving end, and only then, ethics suddenly becomes a concern again.
