I am extremely hopeful about the outcome of America's elections tomorrow. I'm also extremely skeptical about the polling numbers I'm seeing. Yet a friend with deep knowledge says that -- this time -- the polls are right. Doesn't matter. Vote as if your life depended on it. Because it might.
kallisti and pocketbin make me hopeful for the future
@strypey My current "getting ready to get back into it" attempt uses https://pureblog.org/ + https://isso-comments.de/ hosted on yunohost on an old laptop running in my office, but I ran out of energy while doing old post import, and now it's waiting for me to get around to flipping the switch from my old wordpress site to the new self-hosted one (on my residential internet).
It's a huge step backwards from wordpress usability wise, but I do kind of like the "simple internet" aesthetic.
Any month now I'll regain interest and get around to it. Any month now, I swear. ^^;;
@bluewinds
> the world is a struggle right now, I'm sure you understand
OMG yes! I've posted much less than I was aiming for a year ago, when I got the Disintermedia.net.nz Ghost instance set up. Much of what's there is either reposts from older iterations of the blog (on CoActivate and SS), or slightly reworked fediverse rants ; )
> the fediverse isn't a great place for NSFW content
Maybe not the Masto-verse. But the corners that Wafrn inhabits can be a bit saucier (cc @strypey@wafrn.vaguely.art).

that's what angers me about labour; they refuse to learn, and play reactionary games
the hype around election day means i am edging my ballot rn

"Forced to close" lol the euphemisms media gets away with should be criminal.
Bosses starving our their workers is probably more accurate.
@jeridansky Yes!!!! I bought them ages ago - Amazon - so I know that's not a selling point. I have not been able to find them elsewhere, but they really have lasted. A brand called (cracks me up) WiWi. Oh they also have soft elastic around the ankles which I really like also.
@jeridansky Oh. They do sell them directly now! I hadn't looked recently. https://www.wiwilive.com/product/wiwi-womens-yoga-pants-viscose-from-bamboo-stretchy-joggers-pant-comfy-lounge-bottoms-pajama-soft-breathable-cooling-s-xxlblack/
@GeePawHill Why do you think every single one of them are so figgin' horrible? It's really a rouges gallery cartoon criminal villians.
@mastodonmigration Each case is unique, and I'll make an unusual point of saying unique and *sad*. But there are some very strong shared factors. Generational wealth, fucked-up parents, participation in the software trade's money-printing machine, as a brush these certainly paint quite a few of them.

over half of all new steam games lie about AI use
Holy shit.
This guy takes a couple of minutes of audio from a security camera anywhere in the US, with no clues from the video whatsoever, and finds the exact spot where it was recorded.
How?
By correlating the Doppler curve sounds from two almost inaudible planes passing by with public ADS-B flight data.

I think this is the #OSINT video of the year.
I discovered a sound that leaks your exact location (and it's everywhere)

@scy This same guy also did this with thunder.
Got an AI girlfriend because I always wanted to date a model.
Some lollum indexing service thingamabob sent me an email, that they have picked one of my github repos to be included into their fancy index. Whee? Wha? Here's the kicker: they picked one commit from the whole history, of course the one that is the least important ("update sample scenes"), but in their mind it is "substantial piece of work" lol, "about 1400 lines of json". Note: there's no json anywhere there.
Singularity is just around the corner, I say! Singularity of stupidity.
@nomdeb And do they have pockets? I *need* pockets.
@jeridansky Yes!!!! I bought them ages ago - Amazon - so I know that's not a selling point. I have not been able to find them elsewhere, but they really have lasted. A brand called (cracks me up) WiWi. Oh they also have soft elastic around the ankles which I really like also.
