Folks, please share the link for our Fediverse Multimedia Grants.
We have funding for creators to make podcasts, artist's portfolios, webcomics, music stores, video streams, or brand new kinds of channels here. And we pay developers to help them be successful.
Our deadline is Wed 4 Nov 2026. It only takes a few minutes to apply.

Please do not throw away your blankets, sheets, and bath towels. Bring and donate them to animal shelters. The cold is coming.
Please pass it on!
Random question for the Fediverse: anyone here used/have opinions on HEAT PUMP CLOTHES DRYERS? Would need to be 120V, not 240V (no available wiring).
(seriously considering just biting the bullet and getting one to replace the old gas dryer).
#clothesdryers #heatpump #electrification #appliances #climate
@ai6yr I'm in Ireland, so its 240VAC. I bought a new pair washer and heat pump dryer. Previously the house only had a washer, and a clothesline out back. Usually I just dried my clothes by hanging them on chair backs and door handles around the house. But I finally got tired of that, and the new units I bought are more energy efficient than the old washer, and the dryer stacks on top of the washer so it all still fits in the tiny laundry space.
Nonetheless I am proud of what we made, even under such duress. They are great little games, and it saddened me when eventually they effectively became lost media, as iOS and Android changed and became no longer able to run them. I even heard of people keeping an old iPad around with an old iOS on it, just to be able to run them.
So I'm delighted that now they can be played and enjoyed again.
@llamasoft_ox Even when the mobile market was lifting off, I ever felt that the audience was too much casual for really being rewarding for developers.
I'm still think that each time I peek what programs offers stores like Google Play.

You’re not alone in this wish, though I’m sure that doesn’t surprise you. I sort of accepted it as just part of how a federated reddit-style forum would work, but if there’s a way to address it, that would be very cool.

The choice is simple, Michigan. If you don't vote for Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, a Rhodes Scholar, a public servant on the frontlines of healthcare for Michiganders, then you're voting for Jared Kushner's lawless oligarchy, where everyone is in danger. https://youtu.be/gNOboys3-sc

A Bellingcat analysis of video ads purchased by the two largest AI-backed Super PACS in the US has revealed that their political advertisements rarely ever mention their stances on AI, despite the advertisements being paid for by issue-specific PACs. https://www.bellingcat.com/news/2026/11/02/ai-super-pacs-political-advertising/?utm_source=mastodon
Bellingcat analysed 336 video ads from the two leading AI-backed Super PACs. Of all election ads analysed, only two out of the 40 candidates had videos that mentioned AI.

Goodreads removed RSS and some people are asking for alternatives on Reddit; maybe worth pointing to BookWyrm and NeoDB?
Goodreads removed RSS and some people are asking for... #fediverse #goodreads #bookwyrm #neodb #rssfeeds
Both fediverse softwares that support user reviews for books, both have RSS support natively (no Piefed/Misskey bridge needed), and some comments also seem discontent with Amazon's mismanagement overall.
