The release has been cancelled for devices not yet ported to Linux 6.18 due to a regression in the Android 6.1 GKI LTS branch. It caused a kernel panic for the Pixel 7a in our internal testing. Android already fixed it and we've applied the patch for today's upcoming release.
One issue has been found as part of Alpha testing. Linux added USB PD Adjustable Voltage Supply (AVS) support and the Pixel power supply driver charging logging made an invalid out-of-bounds indexing into an array of strings based on power supply type which didn't include it.
typescript (the fast parts)
it took the whole day, but finally done!
no more € going to @protonprivacy 😊

On #DiaDeMuertos we remember the countless precious lives of beautiful hard-working people who were killed at the hands of federal agencies like CBP and ICE. May we always remember them.
NEW: ProPublica found that over 500 U.S. citizens have been detained by immigration agents.
Forty Democratic lawmakers are now asking the Department of Homeland Security to explain why Americans have been held against their will.

US police have shot dead more than eleven thousand people since 2015.
The brutalisation and killing of American citizens did not begin with ICE.
Yes @parkermolloy.com@bsky.brid.gy is correct that the right is going to do this (is already doing it), but I just want to emphasize that the hardcore right is not big or powerful enough to make any of this work on its own. They can only pull it off if mainstream media helps amplify & legitimize it.
Republicans Are Already Sowing...
it's feeling noxious out here, it looks like everyone is in a shit mood or a shit situation and i dunno what to do or if there's anything i can even do
I listen, and I think of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, the 11th Panchen Lama.
@MaddieM4 EDIT: Okay I didn't misremember.

... Radical parents, though emancipated from the belief of ownership in the human soul, still cling tenaciously to the notion that they own the child, and that they have the right to exercise their authority over it. So they set out to mould and form the child according to their own conception of what is right and wrong, forcing their ideas upon it with the same vehemence that the average Catholic parent uses. ...

50% of all heavy (12tonne+) trucks sold in China are now fully electric. CHINA — likely one of the largest heavy truck markets in the world — at 226,000 units in the first 9 months of 2026.!
But this is the real kicker for my #bcpoli #abPoli and #canPoli friends who are concerned about LNG.
Quote: https://electrek.co/2026/11/02/electric-trucks-50-percent-china-heavy-truck-sales-diesel-demand/
"LNG trucks took nearly 30% of the market in 2024, when gas was much cheaper than diesel.
Now they’re losing to batteries. According to Kpler, LNG trucks had a 37% share of heavy-duty registrations in March, against 23% for electric. By July, electric was at 47% and LNG had collapsed to 11%. Monthly LNG truck registrations fell from more than 30,000 to about 6,200.”
That’s right kids… the market for LNG as a ‘transition’ is already dying…. In large part probably because of Trump and Putin’s oil wars.
You love to see it!
We’re going to get a new government budget in Canada this week from #Carney. Probably full of oil and gas and AI promises.
All of which are proving to be horrible investments.

@chris
I wonder why these folks are investing big in LNG?
Blackstone, Canadian pension funds invest $3.1-billion for LNG Canada stake.
The support library's constructor constructs a cache path, & carefully extracts the file's basename for its title.
To load data it carefully opens the file long enough to retrieve its size, then sets a flag & logs what its doing.
Clearing cache deletes a directory if it exists. Setting up a cache dir involves creating the directories if they don't exist. The cover is stored in that cache dir as "cover.bmp".
There's a wrapper around the GfxRenderer cover-finding util.
2/3?
Studying Papyrix's code for rendering plain text ebooks...
The open routine closes the existing file if any, initializes & resets a support library, has that support library load its data propagating any errors, clears metadata, extracts a title, extracts a cache & cover filepaths, & sets a couple properties.
The close method resets that support library & the metadata.
And to calculate page number it estimates that a screenfull is 2KiB of text.
As for that support library...
1/?
To generate that cover Papyrix checks caches on the SD card for the result or any failures, invokes that helper for finding the cover image, creates the cache (via another method I've described), converts the cover image into place, & returns whether it was successful. Caching any errors that occurs in the process.
There's a wrapper around the GfxRenderer downsampling util, with added caching & error-caching.
And there's a method to read a slice of the file.
3/3 Fin!
