Found the calisthenics room in YVR.
🎶 She said, "I'm only seveen (Seveen)
I'll show you love like you've never seen" (Oh!) She's only seveen (Seveen) 🎶
🎶 Daddy says she's too young
But she's old enough for me 🎶
@mm 🎵 you are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seveen 🎵
Republican and Democrat -- this is what women are saying:
"I’m voting for whatever candidate is against data centers.”

Sitting next to someone with one of those silly folding iphones
@neauoire I have one of the Samsung folding phones. I would prefer just a smaller device (a la iPhone SE), but folding in half makes it so it fits in my pocket. the duo thing defeats the purpose imo cuz its the same huge phone times 2.
flexible OLED is pretty neat technolgy imo maybe not strictly necessary, but something about folding my phone in half feels super futuristic.

Google's Legend of Zelda Easter egg transports you back to 1998

Crossing my fingers that I live in the kind of country that would elect someone like Abdul El-Sayed and not the kind of country that would elect someone like Mike Rogers. Rinse and repeat across 50 states and so many seats and contests. A lot rides on tomorrow.
I run this fediverse instance, our toy manufacturing outfit, a couple of peertube instances, a makerspace, streaming radio and a streaming television network out of my own pocket, since they cost more to operate than they make.
I also have a cafe and bookstore.
I have a crew of twelve(ish, depending on the week) folks working on these things. We break even most weeks, but we're losing a little more often than we have a little left over right now.
We're about to remove several of our biggest regular expenses from the books, and that'll shift the balance in the other direction (so we'll have a little left over more often than we're losing a little, and can give everyone on the crew a raise) but I have to get through these coming lean months in order for that to happen.
If you're feeling generous, and want to help me and my little north Georgia mountain community navigate some rough waters, you can:
- give me money: https://paypal.me/MountainTownFM
- go check out all the stuff I do: https://joyfulrevolution.ghost.io
- get some books: https://hemlockbazaar.com
- get some toys: https://mountaintowntoys.com
Thanks.
I profiled (posthumously) Edgar Maddison Welch, the Pizzagate shooter. Been 10 years since the shooting and he’s felt to me like one of the first in a string of online conspiracy meets real world violence events that’s now more a common and a very American tragedy www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...
the early web made these delusions easier to get obsessed with. easier to access. that's protected by free speech and of course, some stuff that is not covered in the mainstream is true. you can't control it.
and if @masnick.com is correct that we can't now legally limit the algos etc cause they are the corporations' speech too, then we can at least support the development of and encourage the use of alternatives. not put stuff on YT or X etc.
One of the parents at our twins' school sent out a chain email about "Analog November", wherein we try to put down gadgets and stuff, and spend more time with family, outside, and so on.
To participate in the country-wide programme, we should download an app that has an obnoxious interface, doesn't run on rooted phones, and has the speed of a dead snail.
Analog November. There's an app for that.

More seriously, what frustrates me about HN is pervasive contempt for other humans. It's not just that many of them see no value in human craft; they actively cheer to push others into the wood chipper. Right now, this is especially common in threads about mathematics, blog-slop, etc.
Sure, there's no shortage of general asshattery on the internet, but we're talking about people building the future of tech. It's just cartoonish and I'm not sure it ends well?
Funny that they don't consider the job of commenting on HN obsolete, though...
It works better as a blog post

Next up in Linux's bootup sequence it iterates over available CPU cores retrieving NUMA data & storing it in core-specific memory. Using x86- or Loongarch- specific core, & due to lineage referring to cores as "CPUs".
After that it sets a bitmask & a CPU-specific atomic to indicate that this core has successfully booted (if compiled for multicore machines), followed by a couple more core-specific variables.
1/1 Fin for today! (short on time) Tomorrow: Commandline args!
Hey, wanna feel like a member of the Academy? You, random person on the Internet, can be a Somebody and vote for the Cinema Eye Honors award with just two clicks!
Could you apply two clicks to this website to vote for Cookie Queens?
That “random person on the internet” line paid out more than expected, lol
Trump still ranting at the reflecting pool, but it appears that even FOX News has dropped the feed.
