@me_valentijn Yeah, that's pure "damage control statement"
Better damage control would be "sorry for being insensitive, I have donated $25,000 to my local women's homeless shelter"

You’re not alone in this wish, though I’m sure that doesn’t surprise you. I sort of accepted it as just part of how a federated reddit-style forum would work, but if there’s a way to address it, that would be very cool.
I am very, very curious what her thought patterns were on choosing that costume, actually.
Is this general attitudes/thoughts about homeless?
"Oh I know, I'll pretend to be homeless, like those sad creatures I see on the road as I drive by"
No thought at all about the message being sent? (you'd think someone all about appearances would have that awareness)
"Oh, I'm so rich, wouldn't it be amusing if I pretended to be poor and homeless?"
Strange disconnect over traditions? "When I was a kid, lots of kids would dress like a bum! I'll do that again!"
@ai6yr Man, I could even understand a 5-o'clock shadow and a bindle being a very out of touch, romantic representation of a hobo. But this?
Sam Altman says he's gonna need your keyboard and mouse too.
@geekysteven "I am altering the deal. Pray I do not alter it any further."
Seems like a good solution.

Piefed web interface does stack comments if cross posted, so I’m guessing the poster isn’t bothering to cross post if it isn’t showing that way in Intersellar.

This is a genuine question, even though it sounds competitive, but reading is not a competitive sport lol:
Do people typically only read one word at a time? Or…?
I am checking out this Readwise Books app (which seems very cool so far btw), and it tracks WPM and other stats, and there’s a little feed you can explore showing what people on the app are reading like current live sessions, past sessions. And all of these sessions are like 190 WPM, 150 WPM, even in Readwise’s marketing the highest they show is 318.
I’m reading I, Robot in the app currently, and my session showed 541 WPM, and I thought I was reeeally taking my time on this one, re-reading to commit to memory, etc.
This legitimately is just something I’ve never thought about before. Probably like me not thinking about aphantasia being a thing until someone described it? I have no idea how it would even be possible for me to spend more time reading something, and one word at a time is the only possible explanation I can come up with??
@ai6yr I don't trust the traffic cams I've seen online. They don't reflect what I'm seeing out the window. O_o
