Scientists discovered that human brain organoids, which are small neural clusters derived from stem cells, could identify the Braille alphabet with a high degree of accuracy.

So every exploit will need to be custom tailored to the target platform? 🤡 what happens if you build your own packages ? It won't match anything they can test against ?

I'm slowly working my way deeper into the technical side of activity pub. But I'm sure there's already plenty of you, who already made a deep dive.
What's a discovery you found most interesting or maybe even unexpected?
@bleeptrack that it is a pub but doesn’t serve you any beer.
There is a built-in mechanism in Mastodon's server software which reduces how often you see the same post boosted again and again.
If you have seen a post boosted, boosts of the same post are automatically hidden from you until 80 other posts have passed through your timeline.
This mechanism previously allowed boosts to repeat after 40 other posts. The developers recently doubled this to 80 other posts, so repeated boosts should be much rarer now.
Wow, it's GNU / Burger King!
@Irmgard wenn ich nur eine Person verschwinden lassen könnte, hätte ich ein echtes Problem mich zu entscheiden... Thiel vl?
@scops Ja, müsste ein sehr starker Zauber sein.
What’s wrong with this? Wrong answers only.
@futzle That panel has three network jacks, so the loopback test requires a three-headed cable, ie: Cat-3. Cat-5 and Cat-6 are common, and they can go higher but I've never seen a Network Engineer do field testing with a Cat-o'-nine-tails.
I'm sorry we have this thing in common, but I really appreciate you reaching out.
@signalstation I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s horrific.

Is anyone here familiar with coves.social? It's using a modified version of the Photon frontend, displaying Lemmy posts, and claims to use AT Protocol
We banned a spammer from this instance recently, and I went to see what instance it was coming from (in case there was more)
coves.social/community-guidelines
Coves is built on the AT Protocol, which means it’s part of a larger decentralized network. Your account and identity exist on your Personal Data Server (PDS), not on our servers. These guidelines and our moderation only apply to the official Coves AppView at coves.social. Other instances of Coves or other AT Protocol services have their own policies and moderation. If you’re banned or have content removed from our AppView, your AT Protocol identity and data on your PDS are unaffected — you can still use other services on the network.
They do credit Photon and they have released the source code for their modified frontend: coves.social/legal
I also found this on their GitHub: github.com/BrettM86/tidepool
Tidepool is a read-only ActivityPub → atproto bridge for the threadiverse. It follows Lemmy/PieFed/Mbin communities (FEP-1b12 group federation), materializes their posts, comments, and profiles as social.coves.* records in a virtual PDS it operates itself, and serves them over com.atproto.sync.* so the Coves AppView indexes fediverse communities exactly as it indexes native ones. Votes stay bridge-side as aggregates behind one sanctioned XRPC.
I think it’s neat that someone is working on this, but I’m a bit concerned that it’s read only from the threadiverse:
- They would suffer from a problem similar to what we have, when someone sets up a Reddit repost bot. Users interacting with some content while not knowing that their replies aren’t reaching the original poster
- they get content without giving content back
thinking about all the ways the comedy in this game would be improved by replacing the cisgender protagonist with one who isn't
"i've never been fully naked in front of a man before" is a pretty boring line but if it was said by a woman to someone she didn't know was also a woman there are that's a great setup for numerous punchlines
like seriously you named the co-owner of the brothel echidna and you're being this boring about penises?
@hrv Thanks for the suggestion! I added a “Bio” section to the settings which does exactly this. Enjoy!
@neatnik thank you! sorry for my long-winded explanation haha

FWIW, my CS students are almost aggressively uninterested in and almost afraid of using LLMs to bypass their own learning. I hear a lot things along the lines of “I want to actually learn it” and “I want to make it myself.” The minority who do use them for shortcutting tend to be the ones trying to check off a requirement who aren’t invested in the learning. The few I’d categorize as bona fide techno-optimist vibe coder types feel a bit under siege from their peers, I think.
Now granted there’s probably some self-selection going on here from the students who end up (1) at Macalester and (2) in my classes specifically. But also the deskilling / ruining of education / etc is neither as universal nor as foregone as one might think.
why the fuck are you worried about having casual sex with the elf if you were fine with having casual sex with literally everyone else who has ever been in this room
