Cool, so what is the plan?

I see so many comments leading up to every election talking about needing to flip the system, make big changes, and upset the status quo. What do we actually see? You all do absolutely nothing, then crawl back into your holes after world democracy slides deeper into hell.

Some of us are out there protesting, and organising, and trying to fix what we can in our community. But we also recognise that we need to work and vote within the system we are trapped in until we can dismantle it.

Meta’s Threads is also working toward ActivityPub compatibility, which would significantly expand the fediverse user base.

When an OS update killed an older version of a graphics program I rely on, & now I have to jump through seven hoops to access any of the files created before 2019. (At least I have back-ups, but •criminey• I'm looking forward to the day we get some better, reliable file format standardization.)

^^^^^^ the protest non voters are part of why so many Ukrainians are dying, why Israel has stronger and more deadly weapons, why climate change just got massively accelerated, why research funding and USAID got gutted (including life saving vaccines and children’s cancer research). some many of you will die but not me so that’s a price I’m willing to pay.

If you’re going to not vote out of protest maybe don’t do it in the most impactful election of our lifetime.

@jalefkowit The small media design place I worked for in Germany had one of the first developer licenses for QuickTime VR and Macromedia Director. When we got all that stuff shipped from Silicon Valley it was approximately 20 pounds of documentation and a dozen CD ROMs. 😂

But making those interactive panoramas in Director with QTVR was a lot of fun! The code was hairy as hell, but every time we showed it to clients it blew their minds.

I'm slowly getting back to #HolosSocial and #CastLab.
I've seen people say Holos is now closed source. That's not the case. It's still on the official #FDroid, built from source. My custom repo just runs alongside it for faster updates and betas.
I've never released an app or server version without publishing the source code first, and I never will. Open source isn't a label. It's code you can read before you install an app or use a service.
