This past weekend, I took part in a festival at a campground in western Michigan: the PRF Campout. This is my set of #ambient #guitar #improvisation, performed live by a rather picturesque lake. $0/name-your-price, exclusively on @subvertworld . https://www.subvert.fm/snwv/tracks/prf-campout-2026

@lexfri gets it right.
I don’t think everyone on X is a Nazi or Nazi sympathizer. But somewhere between me and Nazi sympathizers is a line I’m not willing to cross, and participating in X is on the other side of that line.
@maxleibman @lexfri Regardless of personal "being a nazi”, using it supports an actual Nazi.
This was the poster for the record, which was taped to the wall next to the CDs, which were pinned to the wall.

"I keep coming back to this graph because it’s so eye-popping, almost impossible to believe. As you see in the legend, the blue line is data centers. The grey line is everything else. Everything else. Commercial properties. Rental properties. Single family homes. Multiple family homes. Pick your preferred flavor of development, NIMBY, YIMBY, urban, rural, it’s in there. You basically have rapid data center growth and everything else contracting."
@jalefkowit Growing a lot of tulips here I see.
Dear mastodon leftists. Do you know of a one or two book recommendation which my kid could read to provide an overview of american government and its discontents which might conceivably qualify as an american government class for high school?
in other words he has to learn the usual govt class contents... how the branches work, what the process is to make a law, what the govt Depts are etc... while maybe not accepting the high school propaganda version of the story? and not a masters thesis
Oh my this is bad. The private keys of eight eMudhra intermediate CA certificates have been compromised. They chain to roots trusted by the Mozilla, Microsoft, Apple and Chrome root programs and by many downstream trust stores.

@mcc i like how it has a "Promulgate!" button
@otte_homan oh exciting. What are your plans for it when it's ripe?
@wezm I have no idea. Cook something Mexican with it? Or drop it into a bottle of rum? It's ginormous enough that it would fit through the neck of a run bottle ... ! But we're assuming here that the possums won't steal it.

@davidgerard As layout goes, my first impression was: what's with all the white space? Maybe slated for future ads?
All I know is a 1st year design student could do a better job with this, all things being equal. Which they appear not to be.

Fediverse
TIL the fediverse basically DDOS's sites when you share a link.
I shared a link from NPR Tiny Desk but there was no image preview or video embed. After investigating this I learned that when you do that, each instance picks up the link and individually retrieves the link preview nearly simultaneously. For gargantuan sites like YT or Reddit, this is a trivial amount of traffic and not a problem, but for smaller sites like NPR this results in a sort of botnet DDOS attack on the site’s servers. More here. Another example here . For that reason, NPR has blocked Fediverse servers like Mastodon.
I have experienced this on my personal server as well (DDOS), but at the time didn’t know why, exactly.
This isn’t the end of the world, but certainly is not great and hurts engagement with the content. Is there a solution for this? Perhaps using some sort of webtorrent service like PeerTube where they just fetch the information from another fediverse server instead of the source server? Maybe fetching embeds client-side? At least that would stagger the requests.
Like I know I'm just an email address in your automated contact outreach system, but damn dude—negging ain't gonna do it
@endeavorance Negging works with a subset of people. Seeing Negging helps me realize that $product is only for people who respond to it. I assume it will shame me for not using it enough/right/effectively, and get moody if I don't update it.

My company allows me to work from home 100% but I've told my wife that I am required to be in the office 2-3 times per week, just so I can meet my mates for a pint at lunchtime and/or after work.
@fesshole lunchtime pints FTW
@mcc I hate this so much I made custom CSS years ago that makes avatars rectangular/square again, originally on Twitter, but adapted everywhere with circular images (luckily my own avatar image always used transparency, and needed just very minor tweaking to fit in a circle while preserving its shape).
@jernej__s incidentally did you know your avatar broke Tusky horribly and we wound up having to do a bunch of work to make it not break the UI
