Happy #GlobalEncryptionDay ! On 21st of October, we celebrate #encryption, the privacy-preserving technology that makes our communications safe and secure.
In democratic societies, communication systems are vital for our lives and connections with others. Safe and secure communications allow us to work, socialise, organise, express ourselves, and connect with each other.

The iPhone Duo is a messy, expensive, good time https://www.theverge.com/tech/1015028/iphone-duo-review
@verge why have the tried to force a new product category, rather than keep what’s great about iPhone and iPad? Makes no sense. This could’ve been the perfect hybrid device, but now seems like a half baked inbetweener that costs a small fortune.
@andypiper Bravissimi!
And sorry Andy I couldn't make your opening presentation but I had a video interview with the director of a prospective elementary school for my little one. I'll watch the replay 🥲
@_elena aww thanks! It was just a quick intro to the conference :-D

A support contractor at Coinbase was bribed to quietly hand over customer data. Yep, not sophisticated hacking - just criminals paying insiders to abuse their legitimate access. The breach could cost Coinbase up to $400 million, not to mention the customers who may subsequently have been duped by fraudsters posing as Coinbase support staff.
Then there's the AI coding agent that was told, repeatedly, not to touch a company's live database. It deleted it anyway....

This is the same underlying problem - someone (or some *thing*) had more access than they needed, and no-one was keeping an eye on it.
On 29 Oct I'll be joining Jane Frankland and Okta for a webiar about what happens when access and governance don't line up... looking at real-world breaches, why AI agents are making things more challenging, and what organisations can do about it.

› https://l.mediapart.fr/HZ0
KDE Plasma 6.7 review: still the best Linux Desktop IMO
It’s a good day for black hats, it’s a bad day for sysadmins..
