When 12 people were killed in Charlie Hebdo attacks, world leaders thronged to Paris for a solidarity march
But no world leader has organised a march to protest killing over 100,000 people—25,000+ children, 300+ journalists, 2000+ health workers, 405 UN staff—in Gaza and Lebanon

Yeah I think a lot of us share this experience. All the stuff we are thought in our educations about clean code and architecture… Once we come out and work, management don’t want that stuff if it takes extra time. They want features shipped as soon as possible, and every meeting is about “how fast can you do this feature”.
And now of course embracing AI since it’s so fast. When things break, engineers will have to figure it out at 3 am in the morning, not them. :)

A lone inventor, a genius driven by a world-changing idea. Working tirelessly to solve the problem in his garage.
And then it happens. The problem is solved, the intractable is defeated and the world must recognize the value of the work. (goose?)
And in the same way the prince will find cinderella and recognize that though she had to sweep cinders, she was always the most demure and true of the sisters.
Maybe we shouldn't even tell such tales to children.
The glass slipper wouldn't ever fit on Elon's big feet. In fact? There is no glass slipper, no prince, no castle. Just sad men with hazy dreams.

It’s just bad design. What happens when/if the fediverse scales up to many more instances?

Yeah but we can’t say we want to encourage people to have/build/share independent smaller websites then beat them up when they are linked. That’s a huge mismatch of morality. Either we want to encourage people off the big platforms and should make it easier for the little guys or we are blowing magic smoke.
