For all my complaints about Apple, the fact that I can use their laptops *on my lap* without them overheating or becoming a hazard to me is amazing.

I don’t know why literally everyone else seems to make laptops where the bottom surface is both giant heatsink and has critical airflow directly on it. I shouldn’t need anything more than clothing between me and a laptop FFS.

(And yes this is solvable easily, but it shouldn’t even be a problem that needs solving)

John Random has been handling the private keys for his CA for the last 15 years. he wrote the command line tooling for securely generating new key materiel and also several well-respected books on the topic of generating random numbers

unfortunately, Johnny now thinks a program on his computer is sentient and his best friend because a corporation told him it was, and that program is now the thing that handles the private keys for his CA

Dressmaker is a fun game because one commission will be "I want to look like a TERRIFYING QUEEN OF THE NIGHT" and the next one will be "I would like to look like a carrot"

I've been playing the hell out of Dressmaker and my partner is uncannily good at helping me finish off my dresses. Especially for someone who is wearing a t-shirt with holes in and had no idea what a sequin was until I showed them. They have a knack for looking at a dress and telling me exactly what it needs, even if it's described in terms of "those shiny things should extend down past the waist".

Anyone know if #LibreWolf and #IronWolf clients regularly pull from #OneCRL? I've already manually distrusted the #eMudhra certs manually in LibreWolf, but I'm not entirely sure if my other browsers will get the CRL update automatically.

@gamingonlinux I thought Matrix was the open source alternative? How is this different?

4.

@mrgrumpymonkey if that means that it takes the laundry from the hamper and putting it in the washer and then the dryer as well as folding them all afterwards then... yes?

LE CHATEAU DANS LE CIEL

Somebody has leaked CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 in PHP before the patch is out.

@jalefkowit (the similarity in fact extends to how criticism of either bunkers or data centers will lead to the government accusing you of being an agent of the chinese government, lol)

There are two proposed solutions I have seen. I do not claim that this is exhaustive, just only limited to the proposals that I have stumbled across.

FASP - Fediverse Auxiliary Service Provider

The idea that mastodon has is to have a third-party service that does something like generate a link preview once and then share that to fediverse instances that need it. They have a whole spec they wrote up about these kinds of services that can be run to help out fediverse instances with different things like this, search, or discoverability. They call these FASPs - the repo with the spec is here.

I don’t yet know of any FASP that is live and running, so it is kind of a paper spec at the moment. I don’t do too much on the microblogging side of the fediverse though, so I very well could be wrong.

Federate link metadata and the post at the same time

This comes from an issue on PieFed’s repo. It is basically just an idea at this point, but it is a pretty basic one; have the originating instance fetch the link preview information and simply federate it out alongside the post itself.
