Maybe that's a sign you miss having a cat?
@alienghic I used to have nightmares about the house containing excess cats. So who knows.

Getting closer to launching some new merch stuff probably next month 👀
Just waiting on samples to be delivered to make sure the quality is where I want it, but I am Quite Excite to share the designs with y'all
@mariusor huh! For some reason I thought it was in Rust. What's the JS used for in this case? some sort of front end?
@mauve the current work was done for a static site generator that I'm using to publish the GoActivityPub documentation and it's used for adding some search support and for being able to enable mermaid diagrams.
Eventually the functionality will make its way into the ONI project which is a one user ActivityPub service built with Lit-JS.
But before that can happen I need to see if I need to implement the dependency resolution by myself, or there's some library that I can use - currently only the modules listen in package.json get fetched from NPM, which greatly limits the scope. :D

@siracusa I never knew this existed! https://ebay.io/m/rhgiw5
@KtoBB8 Me neither. Weird.
Is it bad when your therapist asks "what's a good reason to be alive?" and you're like "I'll get back to you on that"
@serge Does this mean we all have to go back to centralized systems?
It's a bit of a false dichotomy to say "Centralized" or "Decentralized".
The Fediverse is ultimately neither fully centralized nor decentralized. Most systems aren't.
There are real, significant things that could be done to improve the hate speech situation on the Fediverse, but they are generally not done. The question is "Why?". The answer is complex and multi-faceted. But in the case of the Fediverse, it's not even a question of having tried and failed, it's never having tried at all.

is there something that makes this different to 17 other proposals for a new internet or is it just a case of

From a Parisian very close to me: be wary of falling for the 'rioters & looters' slant on the protests in France. The most consumed press & tv in France is owned by a far right billionaire. Much of the Anglo press is feeding off a take designed to push an anti-immigrant, racist politic. Yes there is looting by some & can hurt small businesses, but what is not shown is the extreme brutality of the police, encircling peacefully protesting kids, teargassing & beating them as they beg for a way out.
TIL about Dovecot Wormhole - https://codeberg.org/errror/wormhole
And this brings back on track the #BSDMail project!
@stefano Now the dovecot24 is available on FreeBSD this might be worth a port as well if not already.
@glynmoody umm ok so in order to have trained with enough data to correlate facial details with cancer patients and their conditions, the system must have had access to high-enough quality photos of cancer patients’ faces… which begs the question, how many faces did it train on, the heck did they get their hands on that, and was it legal?
@990000 indeed
@nolan "~90% of people" - is there any data on this? (seriously question!)
another question i've been pondering recently is what % of that 90% (or whatever) are paying for AI themselves, as opposed to their employer footing the bill
anyway, Lobsters seem to be struggling with moderation for a while, they deleted comments on one of my posts (and that wasn't pro-AI!) 🤷
@db Yeah that tilde was a wild guess on my part. Based on the StackOverflow 2026 survey, looks like the real number is 83%: https://survey.stackoverflow.co/2026/ai/data
"Employer footing the bill" is a good question that doesn't get called out enough. I think those of us with unlimited tokens at work probably don't acknowledge enough how this shifts your mindset.
I know we're on opposite sides of this divide, but I'm really not enjoying how the "holy war" feel of all this has deteriorated the conversation. 😞
@glynmoody Correlation is not causation. They could probably predict your cancer survival to a reasonable probability from the type of car you drive. I don't drive a car so they would probably just ignore me.
@kbm0 be interesting to see how this develops
