[FR] Attention ami·e·s admins d'instances #BookWyrm
Désormais, des spammeurs ouvrent des comptes pour publier des critiques (sans doute rédigées à coup d'IA) qui pourraient passer inaperçues mais qui intègrent des publicités. La manipulation est particulièrement vicieuse.

@noiob I did the above test in stock Firefox for Android so if im getting the bad result that says something alarming about the efficacy of the cert auto update (given FF revoked the cert on the 17th per that page?)
Firefox Gets (too) Rounded, Flatpak for CLI & Dev tools, Ubuntu does tiling now - Linux Weekly News
Almost feature complete for 1.0:.
Xogot for Mac Beta 4 brings a full 3D modeler, native AnimationTree editors, exports to Windows, Linux, Android, and the web and support for side-by-side installations:
@Migueldeicaza How are you funding all this ;-)
@PsyChuan @electrocutie but also that’s the only cuisine they touch that I know well enough that I’m sure they’re butchering it and so of course it calls into question the legitimacy of everything else they do too
@fluffy @electrocutie entirely fair. the UK does not do mexican food well, i can't really argue. i mean it barely even qualifies but we've only just started getting taco bell here.

Call for Mbin contributors
Call for Mbin contributors
Crossposted from https://fedia.io/m/updates@kbin.melroy.org/t/4475005
As you all might know it, Mbin is a rather small project with a small team. In fact the current size of the team is 1.5 developers (0.5 for the ones which only have partially time). While our active devs do what they can in their free time, this leads to slow feature and security updates, sometimes slow support and increasing stress for the remaining devs.
That's why I ask everyone who likes this project, has time of their own to donate and knows how to program with PHP (or is willing to learn it) to consider helping this project move forward.
You can start with simpler features and submit them as PRs or even just help review existing PRs if full commitment to maintaining the codebase is currently too much. We are aware that parts of our codebase contains more spagett than some Italian restaurants, but we will help every newcomer to find their way through the sources.
Every bit of support helps, as it also shows that we have a passionate userbase which does not want Mbin to wither away.Well ... as I'm not very good at writing motivational texts, just comment anything which comes to mind for this issue 😁 If you have ideas how to improve the chances that this post reach the right people, I would also love to hear it.
At the same time I want to bring up another topic, as transparency is important for any public project.
Some of our devs use AI assistants for generating code for PRs and also to assist with PR reviews. Simply because without it, they would not have time to continue contributing to Mbin (which would bring our devs down to 1, making it impossible to merge new PRs). On thing here is important to know: I will not call it slop nor vibe-coding, as they are a competent developer capable of understanding and managing the outputs of the agents. Still, I am very aware of the issues of AI and the general opinion on it in the Fediverse. That is why I would like to know your constructive opinions on this matter.
Also, I guarantee you that every PR is reviewed by at least one human pair of eyes.

Lemmy does this to itself, too - when you create a post it federates out and then every Lemmy instance that receives it makes a GET request to retrieve the post from the original server. Even though it just received the exact same data. Some other fedi software is even worse - Akkoma does a GET of the id of every activity it receives, not just for posts but for Likes too.
It’s insane.
Anyway, proper caching at the reverse proxy / Cloudflare level solves it. The same kind of caching setup would do the same for sites serving HTML, like NPR too.
I've decided to save up to get back into MiniDisc, my format of choice for most of my teens and early 20s (I kept the lights on until like 2008 or 2009 or so).
I miss it so much.
Ranking Web Browsers for 2026!
To be clear, I do often fuck hard with my Firefox settings but this particular mobile copy is basically untouched from defaults and I hadn't even disabled "AI" yet. I am *not* signed in however; I would never sign in to a web browser. Why would anyone do that.
Testing in Chrome, Chrome has somehow already corrected the certificates on this device.
I could probably dismantle the master's house with the master's tools. It would be easy for me

“What I REALLY need is a big-ass coffee!”
is an actual phrase I exclaimed in a dream last night. 😂
This is going to be my new catchphrase. 😁
git-pkgs/proxy v0.10.0 is out: hosted npm and Composer packages, cache retention and deletion, scheduled container mirroring, more registry support, and security fixes.
@andrewnez very neat! Could this be used for caching FreeBSD pkg repos too? Both base and ports have a single “signature” file that can be checked for changes and only then does a cache need to be updated.

@RolloTreadway thank you, I didn't know this.

Mastodon makes me feel not as weird because the people here tend to relate to what I'm saying, but then I remember that it's just because we're all weird over here.
In the event it's unclear, this is a compliment to all of my fellow weirdos. Thanks for helping to make a cozy and comfortable space where we can feel safe to be ourselves.
