@jannem Changing the defaults would mean you could still turn this on if you wanted to, it just wouldn't be the default

They made it super cumbersome to even activate the integration. Almost feels like they wanted it to fail even before admins started defederating.
Today's panic attack is really catching up to me. My energy just went to zero and there's just so much shame
sigh
fuck off depression, won't you please

@alisynthesis Oh nice! Can't be that lazy if you've set up a NAS 😉 But yeah, something like Sync might be helpful. I've got two hard drives at home, synced to the cloud, then synced to a hard drive at work. Got me into trouble once because an old Commodore Amiga sample had a file extension identical to known ransomware. The network admins sent me a stern warning for that LOL!

Hi from normals.me. If you can read this, the federation works
This post is written on https://normals.me and delivered to !fediverse@lemmy.world over #ActivityPub, so if you are reading it the basic plumbing works. Now let me explain what is this.
Normals is a forum with communities, threads, and questions with an accepted answer. It is a single instance, not software you can host, and the core is closed for anti-abuse reasons. The federation module will be published separately with implementation notes (FEP-67ff).
What federates today Every community is a Group actor following the Lemmy model (FEP-1b12). Follow @selfhosted@normals.me or any other community from Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin or Mastodon.
Posts and comments go both ways. Replies from your instance appear in the thread on Normals, replies from Normals go back to the origin.
Remote content is labelled with its origin, links back to it, and is never copied. Media loads from the source.
Signed fetches, so it works with instances that require authorized fetch. NodeInfo 2.1 is up.
Policies, in case they matter to you, it has no ads, and no paid reach, and of course no AI training on posts. AI crawlers blocked by default, public mod log with reasons, and no automated removals. Numbers at https://normals.me/transparency so please take a look.
If something from your instance shows up wrong here, or something from here shows up wrong on yours, reply with the URL and I'll fix it. Andy Piper mentioned NodeBB uses the same group model, if anyone runs a NodeBB instance I'd like to test against it, if possible.
I hope we all have fun. Cheers!

Headhunted 12 years ago. Board said to finalise contract with legal. Asked for clause giving me ten years' salary if made redundant. It was so specialised at the time, redundancy was next to impossible, so it was amazingly included. Now AI makes it very possible. Fingers crossed.

Senate 2027 Majority Leader Whip Count
Prospective whip count of 2027 Democratic Senators who are likely to support and oppose Chuck Schumer for Majority Leader. Those listed in opposition have either made public statements that he should be replaced or waffled when asked if they would support him. Those listed as supporters have either stated their support or are pretty solid moderates generally known to be in the Schumer camp.
Note: Individual Senators listed in the reply below.
@mastodonmigration I think there's a pretty clear mandate from the people that we want NEW LEADERSHIP. Both in the GOP and DNC.

If your 401K is bleeding today, like mine, find small solace in schadenfreude of Elon, Inc., losing a half-trillion in market cap. Poor Elon's worth only $789.5B.

Some nutcase is yelling at me about how Trump is seizing ballots and trying to reverse the election.
There is absolutely no evidence this is happening (and it would be very surprising at this point, given that Trump himself said on Tuesday evening that he accepted the midterm outcomes).
Don’t make shit up about elections. And don’t repost extraordinary claims that aren’t backed by evidence.
The only thing I've seen was from Marc Elias, who is still working on protecting votor rolls because DOJ filed an appeal today (I forget which state).
This is what I want on my headstone
@augustus in my hometown there's a cemetery with weird headstones in one section, I can't remember but one said "I was a wolf at night" and another one said something like "he was never caught"
