Love that guy so much. He’s the glue that holds my health together.

Lubach (Dutch talkshow comedian) has done a piece on how it turns out that, in terms of websites written in Dutch, there is an unseen iceberg under the water: a forum dedicated to horses that has, over 25 years, amassed over a hundred million posts from very dedicated and loyal users, making it... one of the main sources of Dutch language training data in LLMs.

This has caused it to be massively upranked in google search results as a Ground Truth, and pretty much every subject has been brought up at least once in those hundred million posts about horses, so... the Dutch internet is just horse-themed now. 🐴

New on Antidote Zine dot com: a print zine produced earlier this year in #Minnesota which presents a timeline of local police forces' most egregious collaborations with the federal assault on and occupation of the Twin Cities.

In case anyone thought our local cops weren't all Nazi quislings.

https://antidotezine.com/2026/11/03/ice-police-collaboration-twin-cities/

"Leaders cannot think beyond their own grip on power as they refuse to acknowledge their role in the perpetuation of ICE violence."

Zine: ICE-Police Collaboration in the Twin Cities | Antidote Zine

All sectors of Twin Cities society oriented themselves against ICE—all but one, that is, though they would rather that fact go unattended.

Every elected Democratic official needs to live their lives like they only have two years in power. US politics is extremely unpredictable. No one knows where the long-term trends are going.

You have two years. Do shit. Go, go, go.

TURNABOUT

Another Thorne Smith novel. This one significantly more risque.

Comic fantasy. An ancient Egyptian god swaps the bodies of a bickering married couple, Tim and Sally Willows. The resulting chaos includes social disasters, workplace mix-ups, and (while Tim is in Sally’s body) a pregnancy.

Later adapted into a 1940 film and a short-lived 1979 TV series.

Published: Original hardcover 1931 (Doubleday). This Pocket Books edition is 1947.

In better condition, I'd ask $15, but this copy has a cracked spine and pages that will (but have not yet) come detached.

Yellow back cover headed “A Ribald Riot” with a blurb about Tim and Sally Willows having their bodies switched by an Egyptian god.

Worn blue Pocket Book. Title “TURNABOUT” by Thorne Smith. Cover shows a woman in a red-and-white striped dress in the foreground and a man behind her. Pocket Book 447.

(if you like the Thorne Smith stuff, I think I have ten of his books in Pocket Book editions from 1945 - 1950. I can dig them out specifically if you're interested.)

@jwildeboer @d1 @paul_ipv6 @dlatchx @bob_zim @tommi @homelab @stalwartlabs it may be a "one-shot", but it's one that includes signing up and agreeing a lopsided contract with Google that you indemnify them and other nasties? "To use Postmaster Tools, you must have a Google Account or a Google Workspace account" So not an option to anyone working for the ICC and whatever else Trump (or other POTUS) bans US companies from serving.

THE STRAY LAMB

One of the oldest books in this collection, and one of a small collection of non-science fiction novels.

This is by Thorne Smith, perhaps most famous for writing Topper. Smith wrote funny fantasy stories, which were occasionally risque or ribald, even very infrequently venturing into mildly lewd. This one is pretty tame.

Mild-mannered commuter Mr. Lamb starts turning into various animals (horse, seagull, etc.) after meeting a strange little man, which thoroughly disrupts his dull suburban life and marriage.

Published: Original hardcover 1929 (Cosmopolitan). This Pocket Books edition is 1948 (518).
