This was caught by the UBSan bounds sanitizer which is used in trapping mode in production as a hardening feature. It's an out-of-bounds read beyond a read-only global constant so MTE isn't really since those aren't separately tagged. We added the new types and a bounds check.

ArchiveOfOurOwn (AKA AO3, run by the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW)) has been down for a few days due to a security incident. In the wake of that security incident, a site called AO3.life has cropped up. At some point, they scraped what appears to be most (if not all ... I've got no way to check that myself) of the fics on AO3 including ones that were only available to logged-in users.

In addition to providing these fics (some of which were specifically not intended for broader consumption) on their site, they're trying to get readers to pay for audio editions of the stories.

They have some dodgy and technically impossible steps if you are an AO3 author and want to take your fics down.

OTW is aware and is taking legal action but they warn that the legal system is slow. They advise that you do not attempt to use AO3.life's requested method since it may expose you to additional dangers regarding your private information.

Giving the increasing tendency of desktop applications using their own UI widgets, I'd dare say they are using the new OS standard.

Clients are always asking to style every UI element according with their own designs. The alternative to giving us the ability to style them is us continue making our own implementations. No joke.

Allowing us to style form inputs means better accessibility, and maybe even the ability to disable CSS and have a functional page.

There’s a few cross folk in here, whose comments (I can’t pretend don’t hurt a bit!) do disagree. I’ll just have to have a think how I share on here going forward. The last thing I want to do is annoy anyone, but it takes a user all of 2 seconds to click on my profile here and see I’m deeply invested in the fediverse and have been on Lemmy for years now.
