I was really horny last night and absolutely ready for (non-vanilla) sex. I was looking forward to pegging him. But I had to suddenly "feel quite ill" when I realised my husband was wearing our son's boxer shorts. They're a similar size. I must have gotten the laundry mixed up.

The healthcare marketplace would like me, a self-employed person with no recorded disabilities who has never served in the military, to prove that I DON’T have insurance through an employer, the VA, or Medicare.
Apparently I am meant to do this with things like a letter from my employer saying they don’t over me coverage?? “Dear me, I regret to inform us...”
@molly0xfff Search your plan carefully. Just discovered mine is no longer participating in any of my current medical facilities. Time to find a new one. It’s not easy to find the information either.
Before LLM coding agents, it was quite possible for companies in high-income countries to apply the same basic approach to programming: a high-wage software engineer or product manager could hand off issues to an outsourcing company that would randomly assign them to one of many software engineers in a low-wage country.
Nonetheless, even companies that wanted to reduce wages mostly decided they wanted long-term employees working on writing code, instead of a random person with no context working on each issue. So they opened offices in low-wage countries and hired employees there. And there were still plenty of software engineers in high-wage countries.
Why? Because a software project isn't just the source code, it also involves a huge amount of human knowledge and understanding, both explicit and implicit. Some of it is very hard to articulate, and in practice most people don't even try.
A lack of such understanding might be fine for simple projects, where the exposed UI matches the internals enough that product management is sufficient. But beyond a certain level of complexity you need someone to understand the why and how of software in ways that the source code by itself cannot express. Thus, software engineers who were employees.
But now we have LLMs, which can be used for vibecoding without reading the code... with the exact same problems as 100% outsourcing.
And so you get projects like ParticleDB. To quote @aphyr 's assessment:
"ParticleDB was a fractal of correctness errors. LLM tooling repeatedly claimed that bugs had been fixed when, in fact, they had not. ParticleDB also seemed more difficult to understand than typical databases. ... [software engineers working on ParticleDB] seemed unable to explain the causes or resolutions of nearly every issue we found in ParticleDB." (https://jepsen.io/analyses/particledb-1.1.4)
Or, as he put it in a less formal summary: "When does 4 = 5? Why would strings become 8-bit integers? And how could an SQL table have rows with different columns? We don't know, but it's fun to imagine!" (https://mastodon.jepsen.io/@jepsen/117535799639100730)
(This post inspired by a idea from Hunter Madison: if you can replace the word "LLM" with "consultant" and an article still makes sense, it's not an article about programming.)
Long gone are the days we have to remember to set the VCR clock back, lest our favorite shows not be recorded.
@ramsey Is that due to the VCR doing the reset themselves, the lack of VCRs, the unwillingness to record any shows (Whether due to on-demand streaming or low quality is a separte question here) or the lack of having to set the clock back (hello Canada 😉)?
😇
ok spy cards online dev today
I've been neglecting the projects that require me to use Windows :(
sorry AS:RD people
anyway here's the text style list I just whipped up
should I make the text style list match the actual style defined within
because that means I can't use Tree to handle click and drag for me

They really have potential when reddit exodus began and i really don’t mind tildes dont have image upload featured, but tildes refusal to open sign up made me realize tildes basically serves as deimos’s playground
Such a shame they guy that making rif app wasting his time developed app for that turd
but tildes refusal to open sign up made me realize tildes basically serves as deimos’s playground
I think that is not the reason. No mod logs, Chad as the sole admin and mod, and bans without reason.
If you delete Chad, make Tildes moderation open, and add actual moderation not banning because poor Chad got his feelings hurt you got a great app.
open sign up
It is pretty easy to get in, I think adopting Lobsters’ user tree might be a better option though.

It would help if you starting writing down what exactly you expect to be federated, which problems you think could be face (moderation?), and how you think it could be resolved.
I don't know fanfiction.lol so it's not possible for me to have a good opinion on what should be federated and what that would even look like.

@godot Free Godot 4 UI sound starter: 20 UI sounds plus a drop-in script and a playable demo. Commercial use OK (CC BY 4.0). Audio is procedural DSP synthesis; scripts and text are AI-assisted. https://bigshadex.itch.io/pulselite-ui-sfx-free What UI sound is always missing from packs?
Tube drivers, 30seconds after we stop in a tunnel. I do not need to be told we are waiting for a train to clear or a signal to change. Shut up.
@anon_opin I disagree. When stopped in a subway tunnel I find it nice to be informed ASAP that it's a routine minor stop which will just take a moment to remedy, and not some emergency which means we'll be there for longer and should probably start texting people that we'll be late.

TIL that in some Nordic countries, the amount of your speeding ticket is tied to your income. Brilliant!
@alisynthesis I would not have enjoyed that this week. 38 in a 30, because they put the camera next to a 40 sign and I accelerated into – rather than after – it...
@chris only the stove and the coffee maker have clocks I need to adjust.
@rickscully Nice! That part really is a lot easier than it used to be.
