@ai6yr I have ‘online pen pal’ in the UK that I chat with regularly. They aren’t exactly preparing for natural disasters, they are preparing for war. They think Putin is out of control and world war 3 is coming soon.
I do love a satisfying conclusion in 44 minutes. #Comic

Cheers folks - very clearly communicated, appreciate all the work the CoMaps teams are putting in
Please learn how to do sincere apologies, if you've fucked up & hurt/angered anyone whom you have respect for & got on with well before any bad shit occurred.
Please remember that we are all humans, highly prone to personal errors. All of us.
If we screw up, unintentionally or not, we all have different personal choice avenues to navigate. How we choose to navigate, in times of strife, says a lot about who we are as individuals. It speaks volumes on our strength of character or lack thereof. It leads us towards or away from humanity, as a whole.
Please don't engage in anything less than pure, genuine apologies, when they're needed to bridge peace & rebuild meaningful connections.
Please also learn to recognize when we should not forgive anyone who has zero repentance, while still alive to repent on their own harms to others.

If you've ever fucked up with me here - the last thing you should do is try to stalk me from your other accounts. You should actually try some fucking genuine humility actions, before even trying to approach me in any way again.
Here’s one example:
- the most important dial (tuning) is much larger and separated from others and close to the edge for easy grasp
- it’s also underneath the tuning indicator
- the radio/push buttons are shaped differently from dials to indicate an affordance
- the leftmost push button has two labels (on/off) to distinguish it from radio buttons next to it
It’s all minimalistic, but still quite a bit going on rather than 9 identical controls, which is what a Braun copycat would do.
@mwichary I think there is a lot to talk about here. He was famous for using the grid, sometimes to an extreme degree. But he also believed in strong visual hierarchy. So as you point out, the larger knobs separating things out, the colors on his calculator, etc.
These were all good examples of visual simplicity and structure. Even his tactical sense with his concave buttons or ridged sliders were way ahead his time. But there's also room to criticize because he frequently used tiny text with low contrast ratios and had a blind spot towards colorblindness.
So I don't have the full story, but I believe this would be a really interesting conversation to have and to flesh out.
It is becoming increasingly clear that the trumpies are creating a pretense upon which they (and mike johnson, speaker/house) will declare California's elections invalid for at least some races (those in which D's win.)
(Johnson is thought to be preparing to fire the Clerk of the House and hire a flunky replacement who will refuse to swear in those D winners on next January 3.)

I missed a golden opportunity to be fired in the most hilarious way possible today... apparently the office had a Mario bros themed Halloween costume party and they were short a Luigi.
@scott @autolycos @MsMerope When my mother died we had donations to World Central Kitchen instead of flowers requested, among one of the groups. I have seen that group end up in the middle of disaster zones on the brink of people ABSOLUTELY LOSING IT, and they start serving hot meals and coffee and drinks and suddenly, civilization has returned!!! (In particular, monitored this for Hurricane Dorian... they actually helicoptered in with hot food to a shelter which was about to go ballistic and have people start fighting for the last water/food... and all was well).
@ai6yr @scott @autolycos
yup WCK is 💯

@ai6yr My concern is that these articles overwhelm the actual government advice, which can be very different.
Compare the UK-originated advice with my local advice on contents of the emergency kit for the most likely disaster.

Clayface was excellent. Sad, poignant, amazing FX, Naomi Ackie was amazing as always. 9/10
LOL
"...Millet seeds are a go-to choice for folks looking to feed their backyard birds, livestock, or even add some variety to wildlife plots. Easy to handle and versatile, millet seeds fit right in on the farm or around the homestead. Whether you’re topping off feeders or planting for forage, you’ll find what you need to keep your animals happy and healthy...."
@ai6yr @GhostOnTheHalfShell @frobozz
Animals is another consideration. My neighbors can't just abandon the dairy cows. Those cows have to be milked twice a day no matter what or they stop producing.
So basically what we have to financially live through now is the equivalent of the Fortune 50 going all in and laying people off over NFTs.
@hacks4pancakes
yeah but those NFTs can print("I'm alive") REALLY convincingly /s
United Airlines CEO doubts supersonic airliner from Boom will be ready by 2029
Boom’s airliner may be delayed, and its data center power business lost a customer.

A data centre power business losing a customer is the tell. Chips are the easy part to count; getting wires and a grid hookup on time is what decides who gets paid, and when.
