Just got a new ergonomic mouse today, and I can already feel it's going to save my wrist.
Next up on the wishlist: an ergonomic keyboard, but that's going to take some time.
Still, this is a life changer.

Just a casual reminder that Germans who “didn’t bother to vote” in 1932 didn’t get a chance again until 1946, after Hitler’s death. — There’s a lesson there.
If you think your day is bad: my wife accidentally stepped in shit inside of a Walmart today.

@ariadne
I'll stick to the large hadron collander in my kitchen.
We are in a very dangerous time, when "AI" security companies are competing to prove that their technology will provide returns on investment. The industry has always been broken. There has always been an incentive to inflate the importance of vulnerabilities, but there was always a risk of burning hard earned trust. In the end, a lot of folks decided it wasn't worth it.
But "AI" companies haven't worked to earn that trust. They have something to prove, right now, or they don't exist. So now everything is critical, "impossible to find without AI," and so on. Blah2shell sells, and now everyone wants their little vuln labeled that way regardless of the complexity or risk.
Burning trust in security is the absolute worst thing you can possibly do in terms of tech. I'm worried about where things are going right now.
There have always been more bugs than we can fix. We've had to triage. If we break that, we flood maintainers until they burn out. Our job is not to fix everything. It's to filter information for the people who do.
But right now I'm reading vuln reports that aren't distinguishing between a 100% reliable and trivial exploit like log4shell and complex memory corruption bugs that are incredibly noisy and basically impossible to exploit with ASLR. ASLR is like 25 years old. You have to do better than a simple buffer overflow now to get a shell.
But people have shit to sell, so we have more noise. Again, "we've put the attenuator on the wrong side of the equation."

I tell people I deactivated Facebook as I was sick of the never ending cycle of bad news stories. In reality, it's because I received 4 birthday greetings from the 300-odd "friends" I had, down from 7 the previous birthday. Made me feel so lonely. Couldn't face that every year.
@fesshole They have Muse nowadays, you're sure to get dozens next year!

I get one single down vote on almost 50% of my comments and posts. I look forward to it now.
Trying to plug my 8-inch extra monitor into my Linux laptop and it's just blinking on and off rapidly, sometimes showing what it should show, sometimes showing all blue. Can't tell if the problem is Linux, or if the cable is loose/dying, or if the laptop cannot supply adequate power for the screen (on my Windows desktop I use it with a powered usb hub).
@mcc I've developed a paranoia about DisplayPort cables and the weird screen effects they can produce. I have one that gives me snow on the screen if I wiggle it wrong.
If you're interested in helping with testing, please join either our #testing:grapheneos.org channel on Matrix or #testing on our Discord server. We've posted links to over-the-air updates for each of the 4 releases in both channels. These are production builds signed with the official signing keys.
Users can update to these from our current releases and update from those to future experimental and regular releases. Hardware functionality should be the focus. Bluetooth / BLE, NFC, assorted Wi-Fi APs / standards, DisplayPort alt mode, USB peripherals, USB host modes, GNSS and NFC are examples.
