edu software is fundamentally about scheduling. Class, rooms, semesters, units, all manner of intersecting time tables and lists of people.

Most schools can't get everything they need from one system so you have multiple services pasted on to each other and hideous database migration processes that do things like store room numbers in the course name.

Most people probably aren't going to be coding baseball related things, but if I can explain, for example, document management systems or ediscovery software for lawyers, at least that feels more useful.
