I need #FediHelp. How do I find a decent financial advisor? Are they all the same? Does a financial advisor know tax answers or do I also need a tax advisor? Are they legally bound in some way to not scam us?
My mother left our adult kids really (to us) complicated money. I don't know what I'm doing and neither do they. We don't want to screw this up. Any advice on where to find legit help is welcome.
The way I moved our entire #yunohost server from one bad drive to another was a lot easier than using the Yunohost backup and restore methods.
Our server has 2 drives. 1 x Nvme of 1TB (where we store Yunohost basically and boot from it), and 2x 4TB HDD merged into a single 8TB one, where we host the data for our Peertube and Nextcloud.
The Nvme was dying.
Solution? ddrescue!
Basically I booted into a rescue system (debian) via Hetzner's dashboard. Made sure the Nvme was unmounted. Mounted the 8TB HDD. And created an image file of the entire system of the bad Nvme to the 8TB HDD. Took around 2 hours.
Then asked the Hetzner team to replace the Nvme. Now again boot into recovery mode and simply restore the image to the new Nvme.
Worked like a charm! Restored everything...partitions, databases, driver's IDs....all!
4-5h to move it all. Sure more hours in total but the image creation and restoration was not long.
Rebooted and we are back!
It was much easier than to restore 10+ applications with huge databases.
So now our TROM.tf is back with our services....Nextcloud, Peertube, Friendica, and more....
I so recommend this approach if you are in a similar situation!
@Monolecte @lucie1312 @tangee Mais en quoi c'est bien de s'attacher zux symboles et à la nation ? Y'a fes raisons qui font que le RN s'y attache autant.
@KekunPlazas @lucie1312 @tangee C’est une réponse.
Just came across this, a place where people get can and give a warm coat to others for free♥️
@stux Ja, hebben we in Deventer ook! Een paar jaar geleden heb ik daar een jas gebracht waar niets mis mee was behalve dat het het verkeerde model voor mij was (mouwen te lang, boezem te krap).
I've been carrying around an idea for a federated code forge for a while. Two things sharpened it recently: Tangled's post on the federated code forge, which builds a forge on the AT Protocol, and a Jujutsu workshop (Korean) by Seongmin Lee (@boltless.me), who works at Tangled, held at @turingappledev.
My version would build on ForgeFed, the #ActivityPub protocol for code forges (spec), so that repositories, issues and merge requests federate the way posts already do. The idea is early enough that I haven't even come up with a codename. What I want from it, roughly:
- Git and Jujutsu (so-called
jj) as equal clients. Not Git hosting with Jujutsu support bolted on, but a forge that understands both, so what Jujutsu is actually good at, stacked changes, becomes a first-class unit of review instead of a pile of separate pull requests. - No owner layer. Since the point is federation, one instance represents one person or one organization, permissions are managed per server, and a repository lives at
forge.example/myrepoinstead offorge.example/owner/myrepo. - A migration path off GitHub that keeps the history. Importing the code is easy; importing the issues, pull requests and discussions with their original authors attached is the part that matters. I'd keep a placeholder for each GitHub account and let whoever owns that account prove it, after which the instance swaps in their fediverse actor, so attribution carries over. How to express that claim in ActivityPub is the part I haven't figured out. It may need a new FEP.
Where this stands: I haven't read the whole #ForgeFed spec, Fedify doesn't ship the vocabulary yet (fedify-dev/fedify#751), and I have too much else going on to start soon. If you've run a forge or implemented ForgeFed, I'd like to hear whether any of this makes sense.
I should really write that blog post on SOSS at https://coding.social but lack the time. 😔
FOSS has won, but it is only about the code with the 4 freedoms attached. Many well-meaning individuals, but in-the-large it has enabled Big Tech's success, and also LLMs. It earns trillions for the global economy. Meanwhile the movement of *FOSS creators* is inherently unsustainable.
SOSS stands for Sustainable open social software -> systems -> services -> solutions. Overarching focus of SOSS initiatives is holistic sustainability.
SOSS initiatives emphasize the process, where the delivery at the end of the pipeline is FOSS. Software is only a solution if it satisfies stated needs of its stakeholders, *including* the developer as stakeholder. Devs should drop the notion of "users", as it clouds this focus on needs.
Any solution has a lifecycle from inception to end-of-life during which it evolves based on changing needs: The Free software development lifecycle.
@smallcircles @riverpunk @iris_meredith it's not the first time #fosdem changed its name... #sosdem 🤔
For the past 2 months, I've been enjoying the study group sessions leading up to the 'Local Nodes For Another Internet' exhibition on Eastern European internet histories organised by Edith Lazar and Flaviu Rogojan.
The exhibition is now on until the 20th of November, and @alcstrt and I are showing a diagram we made of the travelling server rosa.
Also looking forward to the days of talks and workshops between 12-14 November, where I'll be sharing some notes on the history of microISPs in Romania and listening to great speakers lined up.
If you happen to be in #Cluj, would be lovely to see you.

sorry sorry let me boost the context
okay but are you grooming children for sex trafficking?
Most people will fail with AI agents.
Your output is now only limited by the tools you command.
For centuries, delegating meant hiring lawyers or brokers. Now you direct an army of AI agents handling booking, coding, and operations.
Stop being a cog in the process and become the architect. That takes one skill: knowing what you want.

@Daojoan
Yeah, ux, ergonomy, laws, science, everything has stalled now, and is in its "meh" state. Instead of trying to get some actual progress, let's just put a veil on all this shit and call this veil "agents". Who hasn't dreamed to be the boss and have an army of slaves, instead of people you actually work with ?
it's not that we fail at it, it is because we hate to be in this state of denial and to take the role of a slaveowner.
No thanks.
The best thing you can do is figure out where there are coming from, and stuffing that hole with steelwool. Also keep anything edible away in plastic containers. No food, no mice.
@koen I knoooooow but why do they come upstairs in our home even if there are only bedrooms and no snacks? 😩
We have stuffed many holes but we find it virtually impossible to cover all the possible openings and cracks of this old building 🫠
Anyway, thanks a lot for the tips 🌻
