So, you submit a feature request for an open-source project and offer to put together a pull request (which the maintainer even welcomed).
Then, you sit down, painstakingly build a fully-fledged new feature into the project, and submit a pull request—only for nothing to happen for four months.
In the meantime, several other people ask about the feature and even point toward your pull request, which is just waiting to be merged.
And what happens today?
A new release of the software comes out, and the feature is now included.
But my pull request is still open. I check the commit history and see that it was implemented five days ago—by Claude.
I take a look at it today, and, well... it’s a half-baked implementation that immediately causes other issues (my version was much more stable and didn’t have those negative side effects elsewhere).
I rarely contribute to open-source projects—mostly due to a lack of time—and things like this are just even more demotivating...

We *do* run our elections. We *do* write our constitutions. We have processes for that. You are making shitty excuses that betray how little you actually care about your supposed democracy.
We bled for our democracies. We fought for them. And you have the gall to sit here in your smug, prideful little bubble telling us how we're all ignorant and doing them wrong.
Again, go fuck yourself.
@iris_meredith you seem really angry with me., which is strange because I don’t think we’ve ever interacted. Good luck to you.
So for the New York Times information warfare tactics we've got:
1) Front page carpet bombing
2) Scant coverage
3) Bothsidesing
4) Selective tone policing
Anything else?
@mastodonmigration @Npars01 @CassandraVert
Kind of a mixture of several of those, but this is what I've come up with:
Same with Jefferies. Everything is a fait accompli. Never any mention that a vote has yet to be had.
@jamesbritt It is actually very insulting that they are operatingbthis way. This is not what the nation voted for.
It will also make it harder to claw back ICE power and funding. Politico reported on that yesterday.

AKA "ain't no way I'm taking the fall for the financial fraud you're asking me to perform in order to cover up this disaster."
@db0 it's almost always the coverup that gets them

Hey, maybe consider putting something about calling in the cw... idk... calls can make them aware we are watching them. Seems important.
@vervain Thanks!

@ajroach42
Hey, AJroach, if my road trip down the pacific coast goes well, I'm going to be arriving in Las Vegas in 2 weeks. You gonna have the spare time to meet up?
@katanova We'll be driving there starting Monday for a show this coming weekend, and heading back as soon as the show is over.
It's ~two weeks because we're going by car.
Hopefully in two weeks I'll be back on my couch at home.
Some, unfortunately I think I'll miss you.
@iris_meredith There’s plenty to criticize about the US government and its policies. But I don’t think many of those policies are a consequence of the technology used to cast and tabulate votes.

For a while, I was under the impression that all spiciness, or burning sensation in food flavoring, would come from capsaicin, the compound that causes it in chili peppers. Then I realized that Sichuan peppers are a quite different kind of heat. Wasabi (horseradish) is different yet again.
How many hot-flavored compounds are there? At least five!
Kalsec: "The Elements of Heat"
It’s quite stormy out here in Western Washington.
(Sound on to make it more dramatic)
intense!
Yeah. That's usually true, and been demonstrated repeatedly throughout history. Rojava was a beacon of hope for a while, but it's since given way to Jabhat Al-Nusra. However even though the label on the tin may have changed in the past year, I for one doubt that the underlying idea and spirit of Rojava is likely to be going anywhere anytime soon.
