For a while, I was under the impression that all spiciness, or burning sensation in food flavoring, would come from capsaicin, the compound that causes it in chili peppers. Then I realized that Sichuan peppers are a quite different kind of heat. Wasabi (horseradish) is different yet again.
How many hot-flavored compounds are there? At least five!

Having now looked up the price, the answer should probably be hell no. π
Will I accept that answer?
Outlook uncertain...
Iβm definitely not playing it right now, and definitely if I were it would not be enjoyable. :-P

I sometimes see my own Lemmy posts, and often othersβ, on Mastodon, but I have no idea how it happens: It seems random, and Iβm not the one doing itβ¦

Not every message the activitypub can send is suitable for every platform. Reddit style discussions just donβt map to Mastodon.
The most important thing is that lemmy, Mbin, piefed, etc. can communicate freely. You can try to build a platform that does it all but I think it will be messy.

@lynnandtonic 100% β most lovely thing I've watched this year.
@Salty The Reddit post speaks about veto's, not about power to push their own agendas, so is technically correct.
Q has repeatedly said they'd work with the Right, has even said if NAT won't work with them "that leaves Labour", their second choice.
It makes sense they'd prefer the Right. Many Opp policies are already part of the Left agenda; they have no clout, less voice in that bloc. Q is vocally critical of Greens as extremist, yet has never termed NZF or Act the same.
@Salty A vote for Opportunity, was always almost certainly a vote for the Right, as so many of us warned. They openly said they'd work with the party with the nost seats. Look how that played out. They described themselves as 'Teal', right wing and green.
Opp just have to trade, say, land tax and Luxon or his replacement can 180 and take them in. It's whether them and NZF can play together that is the larger deciding tension there.
I finally contributed to another #disquietJunto project! This one's all about time. Visit the SoundCloud project description or the Disquiet project forum for all the messy info-dumping about how I FINALLY synced my #Moog Matriarch and Mother 32, and how I scored a Pocket Operator used and tried to sync it too! π https://soundcloud.com/jessica-the-vi-artist/the-time-has-come-disquiet0775

I still often think about the fact that Aaron Swartz was only 14 years old when he helped develop RSS..
Imagine what he could give us when given the chance π

Aaron Swartz was a digital rights champion who believed in the need for an open internet.
His life was cut short in 2013,
after federal prosecutors charged him under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) for systematically downloading academic journal articles from the online database JSTOR.
Facing the prospect of a long and unjust sentence, Aaron died by suicide at the age of 26.
Join us to celebrate the legacy of Aaron Swartzon Nov. 8, 2026.
With the organizers of Aaron Swartz Day, weβre honoring his life with an in-person and remote hackathon.
This event is supported by several organizations that carry on his work, including the Internet Archive
βwhich is hosting the in-person event
βthe Freedom of the Press Foundation, Creative Commons and the Free Law Project.

I've been carrying around an idea for a federated code forge for a while. Two things sharpened it recently: Tangled's post on the federated code forge, which builds a forge on the AT Protocol, and a Jujutsu workshop (Korean) by Seongmin Lee (@boltless.me), who works at Tangled, held at @turingappledev.
My version would build on ForgeFed, the #ActivityPub protocol for code forges (spec), so that repositories, issues and merge requests federate the way posts already do. The idea is early enough that I haven't even come up with a codename. What I want from it, roughly:
jj) as equal clients. Not Git hosting with Jujutsu support bolted on, but a forge that understands both, so what Jujutsu is actually good at, stacked changes, becomes a first-class unit of review instead of a pile of separate pull requests.forge.example/myrepo instead of forge.example/owner/myrepo.Where this stands: I haven't read the whole #ForgeFed spec, Fedify doesn't ship the vocabulary yet (fedify-dev/fedify#751), and I have too much else going on to start soon. If you've run a forge or implemented ForgeFed, I'd like to hear whether any of this makes sense.
