i'm a rabbit,,,,
@datarama @baldur yeah https://dustycloud.org/blog/faulty-towers-vibe-sickness-and-the-vibe-bobsled/
and @glyph came up with "vibe sickness"
@cwebber @datarama @baldur @glyph in addition... i also came up with this term 'lyssanetic' a while back (see also my pinned post). though it is a reframing: lyssanetic refers to the property of LLMs to *cause* some degree of detachment from realitiy in their users, not to the detachment itself. also note how this phenomenon isn't a binary state, but a process that can be very gradual, moves at different speeds for different people, and seems somewhat nondeterministic in nature (note how the latter actually makes things *worse*: it means we can find examples where someone was +- fine using it, and wrongly come to the conclusion that we can replicate that when using it).
that being said, i also very much like 'vibe sickness', since it expresses a similar thing, but doesn't need a giant explaination every time.
@jaz it's wondeful! Is there some tradition behind it? I mean, why the 7th of November?
In Italy there are fairs in this season for the transumanza, moving the herd from the mountains to the lowlands. Is it something similar?
@tezz here's the history: https://jaz.co.uk/defaidodon/
@graham_arden The docs on the LE add-on for HAOS.
I will blog it properly, but the gist was to use an automatic targeting the restart property of Supervisor, using LE as the target, scheduled to run each night.
@neil thanks Neil. Unusually, I might have some free time tomorrow so I'll take a look at them.
I'm looking for recommendations to a new #sewing machine (up to 500eur).
What I'm looking for:
- good speed control
- selectable needle stop
- support for twin needles
- comes with a variety of feet (button holes, zipers, etc)
- threading helper
- thread cutter
- reachable reverse button (near the needle)
- LED light
- should work with thicker fabrics like denim, etc
I don't need a million different stitch types or embroidery functions.
@dec_hl Elna sewing machines are very good! cannot remember which models have automatic thread cutter (if that's what you are looking for) but worth taking a look
Apple’s “Pro and Tell” event in Los Angeles, the new MacBook Pros with PROLED XDR displays, and the state of the Macintosh platform.
@gruber Wow, an amazing review with so many historical references. I switched to Mac in 2009 (starting with a Mac Pro & a Mac mini) to start my massive project to convert 26 years of film photos to digital, remember all of these Mac events very well.
I'm interested in horse signage now
@Jo how about no horse signage
I'm sure most people here know this, but ICE did not exist prior to 9/11
In that sense, saying "abolish ICE" is no different than saying "abolish black site torture". These should be pretty uncontroversial things to say

How private do you consider your votes in the Threadiverse?
From the technical side anyone can spin up their own Lemmy instance and view all votes, but I'm curious at what the community's perspective on how "private" that is. I think Mbin already shows upvoters? Piefed allows anonymous voting. I also know there are sites which show all voting history, but assuming those are fairly disliked.
My general questions to the community: - Do you expect your votes to be private, or just not shown in the UI? - Would per-voter votes showing up on another aggregator platform bother you, even though your instance already shares them with other servers?
For context I'm the dev doing some two way bridge interop between atproto + Threadiverse, in atproto the votes/likes are generally publicly accessible, you just look at the users repo through something like pdsls.dev, they're readable and archivable by anyone. In my opinion this isn't that big of a problem since it's fairly hard to look at and discern (Ex all my votes: https://pdsls.dev/at://did:plc:lmdkqemqrqnfiix72pyjhfey/social.coves.feed.vote). Ultimately trying to figure out if there's already a mutual understanding that they are public and we can just mirror them or whether they should stay hidden as an aggregate.
Since yesterday it's recovered about 300KiB.
I may be here some time.
Remaining time: 103 days
Yeah, I'll drink the vinegar left over from dipping my dumplings.
I'm an adult. Nobody can stop me.
wondering if i should automate some RSS feeds for my individual blog tags...
I planned to release #iocaine 3.6.0 tomorrow, but it looks like I'll be busy hiking most of the day. So I'll delay the release until the 13th, which just happens to be a Friday too. I like Friday releases.

Oh wow, i didn’t know that! Would that make it easier to potentially make like an actual real federated AO3??

As I'm building the hardware I'm finding that I'm a total novice making novice mistakes. But I know enough to push through!
Regarding that sound system... I know that such cellular modems can stream phone calls on a I2S digital audio bus. Which I'd want to wire up near-directly to a selection of speakers/mics! I'd probably need a suitable DAC & ADC?
But how to choose good speakers for this project? Can I wire volume controls directly up to an amp? Can I get cheap radio?
2/2 Fin!
@alcinnz Just a thought, Could skip all audio hw with bluetooth. I do this with the pi zero quite often.
09:03 on Thursday November 5th, over Africa
@jaz I do post regular updates on #WIPWednesday and sometimes more often. It's the orange and beige yarn in this swatch.
