Captured with a DSLR and a 105mm lens during a brief break in a blizzard.
This snow-encrusted eagle watches over Market Street at the Schuylkill River during a February, 2010 blizzard. The large granite eagle is a New York City transplant, part of a set sculpted in 1910 by Adolph Weinman to adorn NYC's Pennsylvania station. After the station was razed in 1963, four of the salvaged eagles were moved to the corners of Philadelphia's Market Street Bridge at 29th Street, where they remain today.
Update on Lyricdancer's health: as before, normal EKG, normal treponins, normal other bloodwork. Given that her month-old angiogram showed all vessels open (besides the one that got the stent), she was released early this afternoon. Still no idea why she had/partly still has chest pain, fatigue, and dizziness. Hopefully a good night's rest and an attentive husband will make everything right.

It's always worth checking what are the actual needs requests after disasters...
"...The Ocoee Country Chamber of Commerce is coordinating donations and supplies for emergency responders and families displaced by the flooding. Needed items include prepared meals, diapers, wipes, bottles, formula and toiletries. ..."

@voltagex can you try https://phanpy.social ? That instance is hosted by others and seems a bit outdated.

PS: Hey Chris, how about you?
It would be the crowning glory if we could have non-AIPAC-sponsered leadership in both the house and senate.

Well, crud. Just like a couple weeks ago, Lyricdancer awoke this morning with left chest pain that was alleviated by nitroglycerin, then returned, so even though she *just* had a stress test, an angiogram, and a new stent, her cardiologist's nurse sent her back to the E.D., so here we are again. What fun.
On the bright side, she promises not to die today, so at least that's off the table!

Australians who have hybrid office/WFH arrangements: How do you do telephony? Work-issued mobile? Work-issued computer with soft phone app? BYOD with a work app? BYOD with your personal number? Don’t do voice telephony? Boosts OK.
@futzle BYOD with a personal number, although we use Teams for internal calls, including my office phone being routed through Teams, in the increasingly unlikely event someone calls me on the ""landline""
Oh hey you guys guess what my ballot was released from us customs yesterday
@hacks4pancakes So wrong to hold up your ballot like that but as long as it’s postmarked by Election Day and received within two weeks, it should be counted. https://chicago.suntimes.com/elections/2026/10/30/voting-mail-illinois-pope-leo-is-it-legal-how-to-do-it

lol, the rhythm? half the time hand placement is wrong and omg.... they aren't doing compressions they are doing pushups.
Now granted, they didn't have realistic manikins and what not back in the day...
and the show did result in tons of people entering EMS & fire.
@MsMerope @msbellows @pmonks @robryk @cpsc_bot @W6KME @_thegeoff @stepheneb I mean, my son is a paramedic because of the show, and he's a more recent one, too.
