Recommendations sought: I'm looking to host a small mailing list (think 20-40 people) with a minimum of stress. What software and/or services are available to me?

The ideal solution would be self-hostable FOSS on Linux without needing direct access to the mail server (i.e. it can go through remote SMTP+POP/IMAP services) and be easy to deploy and maintain.

(A sufficiently robust web forum might also work.)

Any ideas? Boosts are appreciated.

@suearcher @Maker_of_Things @ColinTheMathmo Oh, that looks very good indeed!

@fediverse Writing this from Mastodon as a Test. Hello!

Just below this impressive corner dome on 450 Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow is a faded sign for an early 1900s clothing business called Grieve Ltd, and, to me, it repesents one of the city's more unusual memorials to a life cut short by war.

@Floppy i'm going to go out on a limb and say it's because Welsh has a *lot* of English loan words. it is kind of fun.

Hung with my #Yoyo buddy Mark Montgomery today. He’s in town for the Self Edge 20th anniversary party.

@serge how sad, now we need to choose the new ugliest car in the world.

@davidgerard
I still have those CDs .

Epilogue, I guess. I think this might be really useful to un-wedge a lot of current discourse, where:

1. It's very easy to get people to agree that FOSS has failed humanity, because it conceptualizes the Four Freedoms as apolitical and politics out of scope.

2. Getting people to agree what to do instead is a difficult organizational problem. What terms to use? What standards to hold?

So, I say, we organically let people bind together into small groups of closely aligned values. You doing MOSS? Cool! You prefer to call what you're doing Convivial Software? Heeyyyy that's cool too. We can build coalitions on top of that substrate, owned by no specific group or person, based on things we can find common ground on, without making the old mistake of trying to make everyone conform to the same super-specific values.

@feuer

I think - hear me out - that it makes sense for a coalition to exist in favor of software freedom. There would be many groups with more specific values, who could find common ground on there, and be able to work towards common goals *without* leaving their values at the door. I think in such a coalition, it's likely that the current movement toward socially responsible software would be highly influential, and GNU would be there, but the weird kid in the corner.

What we have right now is a situation where GNU is trying to declare itself the organizational figurehead of the free software coalition, recasting it in terms of community to impose an illusory amount of values cohesion (and importantly, move some values out of scope, like aversion to slavery), and maintain this "community's" legal dependency on GNU/FSF resources. And we've seen how well it goes with them "in charge."

Gross. Not a fan of that. But at least we can learn some lessons from the grossness.

@doctroid based on his behavior, Ozzy is a staunch acaneist

Discovery of activity on Main Belt #Asteroid 6993 (1995 BJ4): https://arxiv.org/abs/2610.31910 -> "Activity on this outer-main belt object is likely not primarily driven by rotational instability, but rather is consistent with an impact event or sublimation based on several arguments. If this activity is sublimation driven, 6993 would be the largest known main belt comet (11.85 km), with the largest perihelion distance (2.853 au) and an unusually high geometric albedo of 0.166 ± 0.030." @ranjit Trying to work out if there really is a Dog

@chris @fname Our showed no interest. Not even sit with it. Birds are odd really.
Our latest flock is the pickiest we ever had. They essentially only like cucumber, pear, water melon and blueberries 🙄

We always fed our chickens any scraps from the kitchen (that are safe for chickens) and they ate them all. These guys? Nope. 🙂‍↔️
