For a while, I was under the impression that all spiciness, or burning sensation in food flavoring, would come from capsaicin, the compound that causes it in chili peppers. Then I realized that Sichuan peppers are a quite different kind of heat. Wasabi (horseradish) is different yet again.

How many hot-flavored compounds are there? At least five!

yeah, but their also going to mars, making their silly ponzi scheme hugely profitable and creating some kind of superior intelligence. Oh not to forget: saving the climate by building a bunch of fossil fuel plants. And supposedly they are doing all of this trampling around on the other nine billion of us without us interfering. So of course, their also making a dyson sphere, 50 times the volume of the earth. Why not.

@KekunPlazas @eniko I will not forget those who were keen to use this stuff, even as they fall silent.

@eniko I definitely won't forget who pushed for this, especially within our communities, what a bunch of despicable fash enablers. The more they are privileged, the more they push for it.

i would like to remind you all as the AI bubble starts deflating that not too long ago scammy altman was talking about creating a dyson sphere to power AI

it's important none of us forget the soaring heights of their stupidity or how the majority of tech press took this shit fully 100% seriously

@kilroy_was_here oooh, Black Friday is coming up!

I can't think of a better illustration of the fundamentally selfish, libertarian foundation of the free software movement than a GNU maintainer loudly affirming that contributions known to be produced by slave labor are welcome without reservation https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2026-11/msg00128.html

Hello sister, could you quote and promote my posts?🙏😔

@eniko I made a handy list of the things one needs to disregard in order to use current AI:

Good morning!

Crepes with grapes might be next.

Ponieważ jak zawsze potrzeba tragedii, by coś ruszyło - to chciałbym, by w tym przypadku tym czymś było przyzwolenie na istnienie absolutnie pozbawionymi jakichkolwiek hamulców moralnych szczujni typu Republika. O kontach z gatunku "Ator" nie wspominając.

Nie mam absolutnie żadnego przepisu jak to rozwiązać i do tego niestety potrzeba ludzi mądrych, bo znając życie i kompetencje oportunistów u władzy skończy się pewnie jakimś zamordyzmem w stylu chociażby obecnej Wielkiej Brytanii.

Takie tam marzenia na dziś.

I'm in like six messy threads at once right now and its actually pretty okay, I'm enjoying all the replies, carry on!

@onepict They are so not having a fun time on my terrible, horrible, no good rustbucket of a ship.

We've only just started.. 😂
