no one should trust us for a long time
@carstenfranke It seems they are flouting the law and don't care. Let's hope the election changes the direction of this. (no idea if it will... but at least, I have hope).
@ai6yr @carstenfranke
It's clear contempt of court, and the judicial system is equipped to handle it after it happens, plus the bar associations for any lawyers involved.

Former library assistant here. Libraries are such important spaces, not just to borrow books or study, but also as a safe space, community hub, place to stay cool in summer, or warm in winter, a place to learn new crafts or other skills, and meet new people etc. They're also one of the only places where you can access things for free. Some even have food pantries with free food if you're in need.
Support your local library. They're essential.

(From collection of experience, one piece of advice: be ready to load that page at 11h00:00:00000, competition with robots and fellow creatures is likely to be fierce! What helps: a well set system time, 120BPM music and rehearsal of the zen-of-the-ctrl+R...)
See you all at the House of Tea! <3

For a while, I was under the impression that all spiciness, or burning sensation in food flavoring, would come from capsaicin, the compound that causes it in chili peppers. Then I realized that Sichuan peppers are a quite different kind of heat. Wasabi (horseradish) is different yet again.
How many hot-flavored compounds are there? At least five!

A small screw fell into the toilet, i didnt want to put my hand in to grab it out so tried flushing it for ages, it just stayed there. I ended up holding in a poo for 5 days so i could take a poo big enough to fill the bottom of the toilet to above the water line, flushed it gone
@fesshole How tf can one hold in a poo for five days?! I struggle to hold back my morning bm until the end of breakfast if nature calls mid-coffee…
@masukomi I love finding this screenshot in the wild 😁
@Nentuaby lol. Wasn’t expecting one of the participants to be here. 👋

Why are we having all this?
It's because you can actually get by much more than fine with an iPhone 8 and a MacBook Air from 2020.
There's literally no need to buy anything newer or with more hardware capabilities unless you have specialist needs.
Even these 6 & 10 year old devices are massively overpowered and we need all that because computing power is used extremely inefficiently. We're at 19th century steam engine levels of inefficiency.
Apple could keep making brand new iPhone 8's and MacBook Air M1's, ofc, but then you aren't selling a fresh new gadgets every year. You're selling long life appliances.
Apple et al are trying to work around market saturation, they're not "innovating". They have the hoover problem.
"Everyone's got a hoover now, what do we do? Make it Dyson. Put Smart in it. Make colours. Pull a Stanley cup with it. Express your identity with your hoover now. Young amd sexy hoover, anyone? Humanoid robot hoover! Oh, a little UFO disk on the ground is enough? What about internet hoover? See your hoover's view from afar. Hoover analysea your dust and calls the doctor. Hoover follows your cat and plays ads for relevant cat food choices. Sex hoover! It has a retractable dildo! AI hoover girlfriend with big tits on the little screen. Talk dusty to me! She know yer dirty cos she eats your dirt"
Fucking piss off man
I'm not sure if it reads CAPRI or CHPRI, but it's a cool typeface nonetheless.

incredible take from one of the GNU maintainers, seriously
@ariadne Anything is deemed acceptable, as long as it serves the cult.
I wonder for how long more won't be recognized that even good intentions, and movements for freedom, can easily derail into cultism.
If you read well the statements of the founders, decades ago, the seed had been planted.
People are taking this democracy thing further than the Dem Party is comfortable with.

A high profile events boss left staff almost £50,000 out of pocket. Now they’re fighting to get their money back

Glasgow-based Oceanic Media is known for holding glitzy ceremonies across the UK, Ireland and the United States, but multiple former staff allege its ‘rogue’ boss failed to pay them the wages they were due.
