Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal said on Nov. 7 that he would introduce legislation supporting Ukraine, called on Washington to assign new negotiators to peace talks, and urged Congress to impose public interest controls on Starlink and Starshield.
@JulianOliver note - it may have come across as if I'm hostile to you. If so, sorry - I'm not. Just can't see where they are really coming from.
@Salty No probs at all, I like a good discussion or debate, and did not take it as hostile. In any case, it is a time to shelve the culturally-ingrained conflict-avoidance and talk about the important stuff, embracing the 'agonism' in it as needed.
On that, I reckon conflict-avoidance is something Q is capitalising on by playing the centrist card, as a salve/cure to the division. And yet they will collaborate with those that would drive us apart.

one supposed rhetorical fluorish is saying things like "I think" or "in my opinion" because everything you say is an opinion. but I dont believe that because there is additional useful information if you carefully qualify what you think is a value statement from things that are testable or logical

The best choice for the new James Bond is right there
I’m honestly not sure why any of these things are so upsetting, or why they think I’m to blame for them (except for the silly joke, that actually WAS me).
@mattblaze long ballots? NSW 1999 would like to present the Tablecloth Ballot.
@thefathippy I seriously didn't know if this was in response to Truck Island or the photo of my boobs.

We have a thing at the store where you can send in a picture of a project you made with yarn you got from us and we print out a photo and put it on the wall and this might be my favorite submission so far

I can't think of a better illustration of the fundamentally selfish, libertarian foundation of the free software movement than a GNU maintainer loudly affirming that contributions known to be produced by slave labor are welcome without reservation https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2026-11/msg00128.html
So far I’ve been yelled at by strangers this evening for:
- the existence of provisional ballots, and trying to explain ballot curing
- the fact that US ballots are longer and more complex than they are in other countries (I didn’t design this, I swear!)
- making a silly joke about DC’s national mall not being a shopping center.
@mattblaze I was very confused briefly reading the second's corresponding thread, it felt like she just misread your post lol
don't take miebo if you're allergic to miebo
@ariadne Okay, glad I'm not the only one who has questions about that :o!
@shonin And, this is just the beginning.

For a while, I was under the impression that all spiciness, or burning sensation in food flavoring, would come from capsaicin, the compound that causes it in chili peppers. Then I realized that Sichuan peppers are a quite different kind of heat. Wasabi (horseradish) is different yet again.
How many hot-flavored compounds are there? At least five!

Interesting that allyl isothiocyanate is a fairly small molecule. I wonder if that small size has something to do with the “in the sinuses” experience of eating it. Maybe a small amount evaporates and goes into the nose.
@mattblaze Do you cure votes with pickle curing, dry curing, or dry salt curing? 🤪
@ai6yr certainly not the pickle one. Too juicy
