Happy 4 years to everyone that arrived in the Great Wave of '22 and are actually still here. You're the real heroes.

@thefinalstrawradio cool folks and a cool project! heads up that the zine spells Alecia's name Alicia
LOL, I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. #DanaWhite #Trump
My wife and I will be on the road for the next two weeks for Designercon in Las Vegas, so we're taking the opportunity tonight to restock the shop and decorate for Christmas.
I flipped on the Tv while we work, and kumiai-ki (the mighty labor union mech) was there!
He accompanied me as I stocked our two meager toy racks in the cafe with an assortment of holiday themed ninja turtles, children's classics, hiphop stars, kaiju, and characters allegedly from dungeons and dragons.
After 3.5 years, #PeerSky v1.0.0 is finally here 🎉
Create information. Share it directly with peers. Access it anywhere. Even when the internet goes down.
All power corrupts. Power should be distributed. PeerSky is more than a browser; it's a new foundation for the web. That's how we save the internet and build better societies, one peer at a time.

@mcc I know this isn’t precisely helpful, but this is why I always use CMake for anything that needs to build on Windows. Truly never understood Vcproj or MSBuild at all.
@c0dec0dec0de If you are building a C# program, you will not be doing it in CMake. You will be doing it in MSBuild (eg, csproj files, which are literally MSBuild files with a csproj extension).
For a while, I was under the impression that all spiciness, or burning sensation in food flavoring, would come from capsaicin, the compound that causes it in chili peppers. Then I realized that Sichuan peppers are a quite different kind of heat. Wasabi (horseradish) is different yet again.
How many hot-flavored compounds are there? At least five!
Kalsec: "The Elements of Heat"
@clacke Dang I knew about all these except for Szechuan pepper. I have been avoiding szechuan cuisine as I've been told peanuts are everywhere and I'm allergic, and I don't think I've ever actually had Szechuan pepper 😮
Definitely have to get some now though, it's gonna be *wild* tasting a whole new compound that I didn't even know about as a fully-grown adult
Systems programming software: (is mostly written in well-specified, simple languages for which multiple implementations exist, allowing you to pivot from one vendor to another if needed)
Software industry: (is pivoting hard to the destruction of the commons through matrix multiplication)
Certain people who end up in my mentions: "HURRY, GUYS! We need to rewrite everything in a complex incompletely-specified language with one viable implementation/package ecosystem, controlled by a single team that includes AI boosters, and is currently in the news for DHH vibing in it. No time to lose, it's for the secure future of computing."
Last week I posted a lot about my book and how if just half of my 1k followers bought a copy it'd be pretty life-changing.
It's so hard to market and advertise authentic queer fiction in this weirdly less tolerant world we find ourselves in.
Loads of you shared and boosted, thank you! Still only 31 copies sold as a result.
I hope you don't mind me sharing again.
It IS available worldwide, you may have to search local platforms.
Last days in Hitler’s bunker vibes.
@carnage4life The Narcissist Nero is not well.
@SlowlySteppingAway @ai6yr Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa have been and still are my alltime favorites going back to the early 1960's. 👍 👍
@uccawx @SlowlySteppingAway I'll look for Gene Krupa as well! The Buddy Rich LP is AWESOME
So I feel like this has happened to me nine times, in three different build systems, and I'm so tired.
We have an MSBuild project. It has targets A,B,C,D. Target D has an AfterTargets="A;B;C" in its xml.
When we run the project, we visibly see in the output window that the targets run in the order C;D;A;B. Moreover, the output of D is incorrect, as if D had been run without A and B having run first.
Why. Why. Why. Why. Why.
How do I convince MSBuild to do what I tell it to.
@mcc I know this isn’t precisely helpful, but this is why I always use CMake for anything that needs to build on Windows. Truly never understood Vcproj or MSBuild at all.
Why is the terrifying beast so cute?
@futurebird @ZLabe that's how they hunt.

This means directly targeting classical liberalism and the governments collusion with capital. Simply getting them to use mastodon or whatever does mot target the root cause.
We have 2 mobile operating systems, both under the control of American big tech oligarchs. That is not freedom. It is the illusion of choice. It is technological tyranny. Most government services require these OS’s exclusively to use many public apps and services.
Most governments are allowed to image your devices and back them up to some police state server indefinitely because you cross a border. That is not freedom or democracy. It is technological tyranny. Companies are allowed to sell you a device and brick it or completely change the value proposition without consequence. The ability to exert control over your purchased hardware and software should not even be an option for any government or corporation.

Woah, I never thought about it that way, but you’re right. It’s not just about the freedom to stop using that technology, it’s also about the freedom to stop being monitored by it, right?
direct to disc - means there was no magnetic tape used to record, which was then transcribed to the analogue master but was recorded direct to the analogue master. this was the highest level of recording at the time to avoid noise and distortion.
Both of these musicians are in my collection today and I have listened to throughout my life. Not primary but they've always been there. I never fully appreciated Les Brown until this last year. First heard of him in my 20's from people who were nuts about him. Nearly 50 years later I've heard enough music now to really appreciate him.
Buddy Rich was one of the greatest drummers of all time. I'll get you a link.
Birdland was a jazz club in NYC. An important one. And just as important, was a song composed by Joe Zawinal in the mid 1970's . He started what we know today as Jazz Fusion with this song. It changed music. Completely.
Congrats on an amazing score of music
