ex. same state:

Salt Lake Tribune: ICE enforcement in a small Utah town sent a community into fear. Local police played a key role.

Example:

Salt Lake Tribune: As ICE expands, Utah law enforcement leaders worry some residents are avoiding police altogether — and not reporting crimes

Chiefs say they’re not interested in doing ICE’s job, but perception impacts reality, and even some U.S. citizens are scared.

It's so disheartening to explain this over and over working in critical infrastructure cybersecurity full time. It's because everyone demands cheap, fast remote support and AI enabled real time telemetry and control. We’ve worked ourselves into this corner through demanding connectivity and I see next to nothing truly airgapped anymore. In fact, it’s impossible to convert some critical systems back at this point.

A lot of our power infrastructure is so complex with microgrids and renewables and real time billing and buy backs that it can’t be switched to manual anymore. A lot of industrial vendors won’t provide warranty support if their remote access is removed.

And this is all happening in super low maturity environments with limited if any cybersecurity resources or tools.

We’re trying, but the state of things is pretty dire, the barrier to basic disruptive attacks is lowering rapidly, and we can’t find enough people who understand the industrial environments and cybersecurity on thirty year old computers fast enough to hire close to enough people.

I naturally gravitate towards people who make me laugh. You?

@bigzaphod is it possible to hire one from somewhere while you play through Zelda?

It's a shame you see it this way, Andy Piper disagrees but you're free to think as you wish, it's an open forum :)

The problem is that when the software is really really really good, you just don't even notice it anymore.

I see YOU triket. I see YOU p5js.

That's a warmup.

"Asked" (past tense) in Irish is "d'fhiafraigh," pronounced, "jiffrey."

*** the damage the ramping up of ICE (and also recruitment of law enforcement into helping with the fascism) has dramatically damaged any trust that any law enforcement department may have had with any community. Because, the average person can't figure out who to trust anymore.

report from home: FIVE MONTHS LATER, we have a bathroom again

spouse video called me humming the theme from "Rocky" with the camera trained on the newly installed toilet; I was afraid he was literally gonna pee as performance art (he did not)
