PSA: It’s journalistic malpractice to quote a tech super PAC claiming a voter mandate because its candidates won “29 of 32” general election races without checking how many of those races were competitive.

If you spend $200K each on ads that never mention crypto for 9 candidates who were guaranteed to win, and $64M on one competitive race which your candidate loses, you don’t get to claim your “90% win rate” proves Americans support your industry’s political goals.
@stefano Well, you can only blame yourself: you regularly post so many absolutely delicious looking meals, so poor little Apple Intelligence just had to draw conclusions.
@chesheer ahah true!

@mcc that ipc mechanism is like 'function call in their memory space'. there are others if you prefer.
i'm sure it's great and everything but the only even vaguely out of the box option for pc using it is genode os.
@dysfun I don't want to run it. I just want to read up about it

Being famous sounds hard.
Kalshi court losses pile up as judges refuse to block state gambling laws
Kalshi can't avoid gambling law by claiming it doesn't offer gambling, state AG says.

And reverse the approval of sports betting. Disgusting, sports ruining, trust renoving, creepy, sports betting.
I'm sure 30% of game losses are prearranged now.
Maybe higher.
What I've learned about Sel4 from half a morning of reading things
1. What they seem to have made is a hypervisor with a pseudo-IPC mechanism which is really just a method for cooperatively picking which process gets to run next on the current core. This sounds fun and hilarious. I'm imagining Mac OS 7 but everything's a unikernel.
2. Everyone who's written software for SeL4 seems to be yelling NO NO GET AWAY like the Giant in the final episode of Twin Peaks S2
What I'm really doing here is, I want to start trying to understand Redox (this is a long term project which I am attacking hilariously slowly, I'm still stuck on getting qemu to work right with Mutter), and I was thinking, hm, I don't know OS kernels well, I should probably read up on at least one other modern microkernel OS so I have a point of comparison. If SeL4 is "weird" or overfocused on formal-methods stuff, are there other going-concern/research kernels I should know? Does L4 yet live?

TL;DR
our elections forced Yashar’s hand and they had to accept sitting with the Arab parties. they have a supermajority in the Knesset.
@blogdiva I think it's a two step process.
The parties tell the president who they want to try to form a government; then the person they chose has to negotiate with all the parties to try and cobble together a coalition.
It's not clear to me that the Palestinian parties are actually in the coalition yet, or if they'll even be allowed in.
@jaz This awesome, frightening and madenning at the same time.
Of all the real-world names for chemicals that sound like they were dreamed up by a comic book writer as an ingredient in some superhero’s origin story, “Zoledronic acid” must be near the top of the list.
@gregeganSF It unfortunately requires a bit of explanation, but there is a chemical called "catocene". In solid rocketry cato is short for "catastrophic explosion", and the purpose of catocene is to make rockets burn faster.
@Florapis @Janet_52square @ai6yr The first house we lived in when my PIC and I moved to Norway was a sparsely maintained council house built in the 1970s.
The standard insulation thickness in the 1970s was "only" 10 cm (the current standard is 25 cm). Wood framed windows with double glazing. Still it was warmer than all of the houses I lived in in the UK.
Even during our first very cold winter with temperatures down to -30'c.
