Is MAHA dying—or will it be reborn? What's next after crushing midterm losses?
RFK Jr.'s Make America Healthy Again movement was in trouble before voting began.

Wondering what the lift helicopters are doing here this week... back and forth and back and forth. Yesterday it was long line from KCAM. New sewage pipes into the canyon? Power poles?
@ai6yr we had a chinook land at our towns tiny airfield earlier this week. very unusual.
we are under several Pandleton and Miramar flight paths, but no-one lands here
@daringfireball You counting my Angus King as a Democrat? (The Democrats went from out of power in Washington to a massive majority in the House and an apparent 55-45 or even 56-44 majority in the Senate.)
@rogerschutte If you caucus with the Democrats, yes. Same for Bernie Sanders.
Remember when drone deliveries were going to revolutionize shopping? When every major news outlet unthinkably reported that we’d have autonomous quadcopters dropping off toothpaste and Amazon boxes on our doorsteps?
I cant believe you asked because I was just reading about this a few days ago.
---Because calamondins have a sweet, tender skin and a very tart, sour pulp, blending the entire fruit (peel and all, remove all the seeds) creates a vibrant, flavorful puree perfect for adding moisture and zing to baked goods.
Calamondin-Walnut Quick Bread
• Method: Wash, slice, and de-seed enough fruits to make 1 cup of whole calamondin puree.
• Batter: Mix the puree directly with 1 ½ cups sugar, 3 tbsp oil, 2 eggs, ½ cup milk, and a pinch of salt. Fold in 2 ½ cups flour, 3 ½ tsp baking powder, and a generous warm spice blend (like cloves, cinnamon, and ginger) along with toasted walnuts and raisins.
• Bake: Pour into a greased 9x5 loaf pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Vintage "Florida" Bundt Cake
• Batter: Combine 1 package of standard white or yellow cake mix with one 3-oz package of lemon or orange gelatin (Jell-O). Whisk in ¾ cup vegetable oil, ⅓ cup milk, 4 eggs, and ½ cup of fine whole calamondin puree.
• Bake & Glaze: Bake in a greased Bundt pan at 350°F (175°C) for 45–50 minutes. While it's still warm, poke holes in the cake and pour over a vibrant glaze made from 2 cups powdered sugar, 4 tbsp melted butter, and an extra ¼ cup of calamondin puree.
Pro-Tips for Success
• Pulse, Don't Liquefy: Unless a recipe explicitly tells you to liquefy it, leave your puree slightly textured with microscopic "flecks" of orange rind. Over-blending can break down the pith too much, which increases the bitterness of the batter.
• Do Not Peel: The magic of the calamondin is in the skin! The pulp contains the sour juice, but the peel holds the sweet essential oils that give the fruit its signature tangerine-like aroma.
• Balance the Acid: Because whole calamondin puree is highly acidic, recipes built from scratch usually require a touch of baking soda (to neutralize the acid and help it rise) or a robust amount of sugar to balance the tartness.
@LaNaehForaday Oooh, THANKS!!!

Couple more shots of the mink we spotted on yesterday morning's bimble. It was so curious about our presence it struck a few nice poses. #Hiking #GetOutside #AltText
Europe's tech sovereignty starts with innovation made in the EU.
The new EU Chip Design Platform aims to accelerate chip innovation across Europe.
This initiative is encouraging the emergence of a new generation of companies while mobilising €525 million.
Designed to support startups, SMEs and research teams, this flagship project under the Chips Act will provide access to chip design tools, design support services, IP blocks and manufacturing capacity.
@EUCommission At least one fab in Europe would be better.

John Campbell having a lovely interview with a young spelling bee winner... "And your final word was 'auspicious'" - indeed it was.
I am a mixture of appalled, shocked, angry, and heartbroken that WASHINGTON of all states just passed a hateful anti-trans measure to prevent trans girls from playing school sports.
What the actual fuck?
Western Washington usually saves us from the awful opinions found in the less populated parts of the state, but apparently everyone outside King and Whatcom counties hates trans kids. Or is willing to vote as though they do, which isn't significantly different to me.
I think this will be tossed out in court as it singles out GIRLS to have their genitals medically verified and not all children wanting to play a sport. But I'm still very upset it passed.
New release of GNU Mes, one of the most important FOSS projects around (bootstrappability for your operating system!) with big speedups (funded by @nlnet / @NGIZero)! And a nice and earnest blogpost by @ekaitz_zarraga https://ekaitz.elenq.tech/fasterMes10.html

Beautiful
Yesterday was #AskAConservator day and I didn't really get any questions on my other platforms. Let's try the Fediverse!
What would you like to ask a conservator?
(I try not to say "art conservator" because I don't usually work with art in the traditional sense. I'm an objects conservator so it's easier to think of it as "all things old and crusty" rather than fancy art.)
We had a glorious sunrise this morning. Big and pink, and it lasted much longer than such sunrises usually do.
