Ran into a weird Apple Watch S12 thing tonight: Put it on a portable Belkin battery to charge, then I heard a faint, staticky scratching or rumbling sound. A little like when you could hear old hard drives writing data.
Then it quickly went steady. Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick.
Take it off the charger, it stops. Restarted Watch, still does it. Never heard this charging previous Watch models this way. It seems... off, yeah?
Practicing some geolocation. Pretty sure this is not San Jose. (labeled because it's Verizon Business).
@ai6yr The pink sign made me think it may be near Evergreen Valley Collage in SJ but the terrain does not match
I'm writing some disks but I can't believe how often these poorly maintained cheap floppy disks from 1990 keep dying on me
come on, can't this mass-produced media last a mere 36 years?
@foone I've got many dozens worth from the 80s that are still going strong, but yeah, most ones newer than that have been rapidly dropping like flies.

I just saw that Postgres 19 has online repacking. That is super cool. I remember the brain explode moment I moved from MySQL to Postgres in the mid 90’s because their odbc driver has table cursors which at the time seemed just unreal for making database apps.
New, from me:
Several staffers at the White House are using computers or mobile devices equipped with residential proxy services that render their internet address available for others to rent, security experts warned today. One of the proxy services is a Russian company whose founder’s web hosting business was ground zero for cyberattacks against election systems in Arizona and Illinois in 2016.

The other night I dreamed some of my family and I made one of those vintage "The [ ] Family" country records, and that the only song with my vocals on it was at least partially inspired by my adventure into a dark old cabin consumed by the forest and now home to an ent. The visualization of this had very bisexual lighting
OK, been flogging the DUMP SCHUMER beat all day, but before bed, just wanted to share this reply to diana. Got a particular chuckle out of this one.
Rest well happy warriors. Enjoy the sweet satisfaction of victory, for tomorrow the fight resumes.

Anybody else have an emotional meltdown today, or is it just me?
I think it was partly that I've been sick for 3 weeks and I was talking to my doctor
And partly that I didn't sleep much last night because of the election results, and sleep dep always makes me more emo
But I also think it's probably the relief. Like maybe it's safe to feel something, now that we might be at the beginning of the end, of the nightmare we have been living in
Anyway, anyone else?

@NilaJones 4. handling an unusually high load of the meltdowns of others. But fine myself.

It’s wild that just the thumbnail alone can tell you it’s vibe-coded.
NPR: Elon Musk will face scrutiny from Democrats after midterms
"...With a Democratic majority in Congress, the billionaire, who controls Tesla and SpaceX, will likely face investigations into the billions of dollars of government contracts his companies have been awarded since President Trump returned to office and his role leading the Department of Government Efficiency at the beginning of Trump's second term.
Musk gave more than $445 million to Republican candidates, political action committees and outside groups, according to federal election filings analyzed by OpenSecrets, a nonprofit that tracks campaign spending. That makes him the top donor in the midterms and among the very largest political donors in American history...."

@ai6yr What he and those other fucking pucks did to all of us through doge (it was never a Department is inexcusable). One of his boys took *all* of SSA’s data and *brought it with him to SAIC* I saw first hand what they did to USAID. What Elon (and Russ Vought, Steven Miller) and the goons have done is worse than the Rosenbergs. They should be tried and punished.
