I hope Democrats are brainstorming ways to use their new majorities to enact common-sense reforms, such as requiring Elon Musk to pull every single American around Central Park in a carriage like he's a widdle horsie

@daringfireball You counting my Angus King as a Democrat? (The Democrats went from out of power in Washington to a massive majority in the House and an apparent 55-45 or even 56-44 majority in the Senate.)

@ai6yr wish I could find the video of the guy who had his assistant order a couple pizzas for delivery. IIRC, It ordered from a completely different pizzaria than he told it to order from and delivered the pizzas to another pizzaria in the next town over.

It’s difficult to overstate how much even a purple Texas would break the mainspring of Republican presidential politics. The math of reaching 270 electoral votes gets really difficult if they can’t rely on picking up 40 from Texas

@indivisibleteam Hoping that he announces that he is challenging Chuck Schumer for Majority Leader!

@carnage4life I dunno about her judgement. Anthropic shares seem a better bet than OpenAI shares at the moment.

So are they still doing the Anakin Skywalker memes over there

"Harkin’s signature achievement is the Americans With Disabilities Act, and there’s poetry, as Turek often says, if Harkin is succeeded, albeit with a 12-year Ernst-filled gap, by Turek, who was born with spina bifida and went through 21 surgeries by age 12."

@ChristineMalec On the plus side, if there is ever an upcoming tsunami, I think it is pretty effective at letting everyone know to literally run for the hills

Inside you there are two wolves

So far, I like what’s been built here. There are a few things I’d change, but they’re not dealbreakers. My main concern is the voting system and how it works. Otherwise, Lemmy seems like a solid option. I’m not sure how much voting can be disabled or changed on an instance.

I’m considering either hosting a Lemmy instance for nightash.net, where I currently run a traditional forum, or building something closer to the architecture I described here .

I’d appreciate feedback, especially from people who might be interested in using it.

I also think most folks are dishonest in public about being vengeful. The same folks who abhor personal vengeful actions are the same ones screaming for vengeance against public figures.
Honesty & humility starts at home. Don't be a fucking hypocrite doling out vengeful shit in public & trying to shame others for feeling vengeful about harms put upon them by both government & bigoted citizens.

THIS JUST IN: Senator Van Hollen joins us tomorrow to react to Democrats’ historic wins in the midterms! We promise that you will want to be part of this conversation: https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/874938/?source=mastodon

Too bad it hurts the foolish and not the Trumps.

You hear someone counting money.

literally every email we've gotten at 5 Calls today has been asking us to post a call about replacing Schumer and Jeffries in party leadership. as a 501c4 civic nonprofit, we have to make our calls available to the entirety of a given chamber of Congress (or both chambers), so we are not able to post such a call--but you can certainly use 5calls.org to find your reps' phone number and tell them that's what you want!
