I migrated from WAFRN to a self-hosted Iceshrimp.net instance. I hope everything works!
Erg.
#Democrats are celebrating historic wins across the nation, but after midnight Wednesday, Nov 4, #Michigan voters are still waiting to see who will represent them in marquee federal & state elected offices.
Dems #JocelynBenson & #AbdulElSayed show early leads, but as of early Wednesday a majority of votes are still outstanding. That includes most votes from Detroit & Wayne County, historically heavily Democratic. But #Republicans are holding out hope….

NO WE ARE NOT GIVING THIS SENATE TO CHUCK SCHUMER
Thank you, dear friends in the USA. It's the #BlueWednesday I hoped for 😊 The oligarchs have (hopefully) learned that democracy goes deeper than their pockets.
rated T for Transgender and E for Everyone
Waiting for the New York Times' sure-to-come second day headline:
"Analysis: Why the elections were actually bad for the Democrats"
SAM FORSTAG IS UP 11 IN MONTANA!
He defended transgender people in a debate in Western Montana that went viral.
How on earth can you say you have to turn anti-trans as a dem to win an election when he's doing this in Montana?
If you'd like to prefer #IPv4 over #IPv6 (without fully disabling v6) on a #Linux machine, check out /etc/gai.conf.
I don't really understand the rules it contains, but at least on my #Debian machine, it's pretty helpful in explicitly saying:
"For sites which prefer IPv4 connections change the last line to `precedence ::ffff:0:0/96 100`"
And in case you're wondering why I'd do that: My IPv6 uplink is currently significantly slower.
Yes, I'll work on this. No, not tonight.
It's really notable that none of the worst case nightmare scenarios involving ICE at polling stations, arrested election workers, seized ballots, postal shenanigans, etc. came to pass. And that's due to tireless work by legal advocates for states and NGOs, not to mention independent judges who were willing to stand up to the administration's unlawful excesses.
@flyingsaceur (they do really hate nerds)
@flyingsaceur Oh wow, from Wikipedia
"...After the end of the investigation Scotland Yard considered prosecuting Rowlands under the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1967 for listening to unlicensed transmissions, but no charges were laid against him. ..." (the radio guy. Not kidding about the "not liking nerds")
getting ready for bed by triumphantly pecking away at a tricky sudoku puzzle, which is a nice change from getting ready for bed by desultorily pecking away at a tricky sudoku puzzle
@joshmillard it’s the perfect way to dissolve those last bits of brain energy
That was pretty funny! 🤣
@dgar
I’m not only laughing at trump but at musk as well - that hilarious!
I just saw the word bluekakke and I may not know art but I know what I like

@Cheeseness I love your photo's ❤️👍
I just took this short video on my phone of our two local juveniles Magpies. Their parent birds are providing them with plenty of moths and insects but it's such an honour even to have them pay a fleeting visit to the deck. Plenty of grubs in the grass below it.
It was the fuck aroundiest of times, it was the find outiest of times.
As ICE rips through California during the election, progressive upstart Randy Villegas is trying to topple Republican Rep. David Valadao. https://theintercept.com/2026/11/04/villegas-valadao-california-election-ice
And most of the people responsible for the smoothness with which this election proceeded are relatively anonymous, toiling away at the unglamorous work that quietly keeps democracy running. We owe them all a great debt.
