My furry boys do not get the concept of daylight savings time at all, and are haunting my every step around the house desperately trying to communicate the fact that they have never been fed before in their entire lives and may perish at any moment if they do not get their dinner immediately
@AbandonedAmerica for a moment I thought that you had multiple sons who happened to be furries and was very confused. 🤣😂
My dog is always always hungry so there isn't much difference 😅
A confused Trump spouts headline-making nonsense, WH leaves it out there because optics. “Netanyahu's staff and Trump's staff confirmed that he misspoke, and they just do not want to fix it on midterm election day” www.jpost.com/israel-news/...
Ars Technica notes there was no pricey equipment, and that he does not use AI in his images.
The whole career started with an old microscope found in his parents' attic during lockdown, an adapter built from a tube and some wood, and his father's camera. His own site keeps the bio to one line: Macrofifying is a German digital artist and photographer.
Hacker News, where the video pulled 189 points, turned into group therapy for inkjet owners.
One commenter called it "screensavers but for printers." Another's brother keeps a weekly test page running so the heads don't dry out, and one let his sit three weeks until the nozzles clogged and misaligned. A skeptic swore the drips were AI, because real ink never lands like that.
If you own an inkjet, print one page every week, and if you have never watched a single droplet land, Macrofifying's feed is the tour.
Every printer behaves once you take it apart.
The video version, a printhead raining droplets in extreme macro, posted to Macrofifying on X under the caption "A printer printing onto paper," is the loop I keep rewatching. Getting it was engineering, not luck. The droplets move faster than a camera's shutter, so Bielfeldt deconstructed the machine until the sheet moved under a stationary printhead, worked in a dark room, and let a flash serve as the shutter, freezing the drops mid-air.

A Printer Printing a Picture of Paper, Onto Paper. I Can't Look Away...
A photograph of an inkjet printhead firing droplets, taken through a microscope, just won Nikon Small World, the big prize for photography through the microscope: Ole Bielfeldt, a 25-year-old German experimental photographer, beat 1,802 entries from 69 countries with his microscopic view of an inkjet printer depositing ink on paper.

I wonder how long it will take for someone at work replying to a request with "yes, I can help you with that, but not this month because my tokens are used up"...
@dec_hl Great Idea - thank you for sharing 👍!
I think that's it for this batch. I'll share more tomorrow.

@jonah What the actual fuck? I've never seen that before. I wonder if that's a MN thing or a Constitutional thing. 🤔
@nateb I had not encountered this before lol
Apparently it is only a thing for constitutional amendments in Minnesota, Hawaii, and Wyoming, where they need to have the support of a majority of all *voters* in an election.
Also there are 14 other states which may also penalize some blank votes, but in much more specific circumstances than this. Minnesota seems rather unusual then. Interesting stuff 🤷♂️

@evan Thanks for your response. I've often pondered how the Fediverse might work as a backbone for gaming, but I've never really come up with a solid answer.
@BobWilliams I used game play as an extended example for the Activity Streams primer:
