The evil people are very trend conscious. I wonder how many billionaires as kids dreamed about owning a super yacht. Probably not that many. But they like being in exclusive groups.
Watching an academic discussion about how the Atlas Network has chosen to use Aotearoa NZ into a petri dish for developing pseudo-independent right-wing, neoliberal institutional influence by gaming human nature. Wow. I've always known the Atlas Network and Heritage Foundation were very bad news but this is stone cold, relentless, heavily funded, rational unadulterated evil at a global scale.
@lightweight People (and politicians?) are catching on that democracy is in existential danger. Discussions about resistance are happening within some
nations. Trouble is - the billionaire attack has been transnational for decades. Nations are easily played off against each other. Politicians with a real interest in democracy have to figure out how to reach beyond the border and work to create new rules to protect democracy globally.

@BruceMirken @benroyce @Doug_Bostrom @dcatoffm It still makes me spit and hiss - when they voted in Biden - BUT - democrats did not have a clear majority and so Republicans were able to obstruct and then voters whined about nothing changing. YOU DIDN'T FUCKING VOTE IN ENOUGH PEOPLE SO THEY COULD MAKE CHANGE. Or the idea that things can change in an instant in an economy as complex and huge as ours - or that world affairs are not vastly more complex than single issues. So unsophisticated.

Random question for the Fediverse: anyone here used/have opinions on HEAT PUMP CLOTHES DRYERS? Would need to be 120V, not 240V (no available wiring).
(seriously considering just biting the bullet and getting one to replace the old gas dryer).

@ai6yr I just looked at the search I have set up again, the Miele all seem to be 240 V.... There seem to be a few 120V models by Samsung and GE... But all in the $2000 range!!!? I was in Germany 2 weeks ago, friends showed me their new heat pump dryer they had gotten for $600, including tax....
When I see prices here in the US and compare to Europe it seems we get screwed all the time, no real competition.

@robertcadena Ha! When it gets larger, the trick (believe it or not) is to drop some "Florel Fruit Eliminator" in the crown, which stimulates it forming a fruit. (Florel contains a hormone used to prevent fruiting in crabapples/etc. but which stimulates the development of pineapples). I do find they have to get to about 2 feet or 3 feet wide to be able to support fruiting.... I usually have them in 15 gallon pots at that point.
