I find it wildly unprofessional when someone is giving a presentation or on a podcast/video and say something along the lines of "I'm gonna butcher this name". Learn to pronounce someone's name. Practice it. It's not hard at all. You have prep time.
We have update on the sunset btw!

was going to write a roadmap for #SparkleShare today but it looks like I will be doing some service migrations instead.
it took the whole day, but finally done!
no more € going to @protonprivacy 😊
Mock me if you will but I'm a huge AOC stan -- I love the way she thinks, the way she carries herself, and the message she is in the process of crafting as she thinks about running in 2028. The problem is that I'm pretty convinced she's too good for this dumbass country.
Ocasio-Cortez Has Evolved. She...
As I said last week, I got laid off. I figured I'd make a post on my site for visibility, along with a link to my updated resume.
I’m honestly a little befuddled that an incorporated entity could put “our core product may end humanity” in its IPO prospectus, and we didn’t just immediately march its entire executive team to the nearest bog and ritually strangle them, then disband the company and redistribute its assets, then gather and incinerate all their intellectual property.

Fediverse
Is there a way to not see duplicate of the same topic across different communities?
Hi everyone!
I’m really enjoying the Fediverse through Lemmy and Peertube.
One creator I enjoy and follow on the Fediverse is Gardiner Bryant as his content is really enjoyable.
Sadly he ´s the target of my post as he shares his content on many different communities that I follow.
Today I had 5 times the same topic on RetroDeck (great project too) on my feed on Lemmy (Voyager).
It is the same on PieFed (Interstellar).
This is really annoying and I haven’t found a way to not show these duplicates. Do you know about one or is it worked on?
Also when crossposting, it would be great if everything appeared under on post. Is it feasible?
Sorry if it’s easy and I just missed it. In a way I hope it is because it would mean that the Fediverse is festure rich😇
Karma farmers gonna farm.
I guess the thing that feels novel here is, "you only think blue-haired people can do this because you think YOU can do this."
And I don't just mean *can* in a moral sense*, I mean mechanically, physiologically, how do you think a child brain works, kind of stuff. You only think it's possible to brainwash a child into, I dunno, having a sex change, because you think it's possible to make them cishet through media control, beatings, and sheer force of will. That's why these parents always make a surprised Pikachu face later when their children don't turn out how they were raised.
*though this question of moral justification is a more familiar sump of sewage that I feel gets more exploration in other places, and I don't need to dive it right now.
Why is the new Mastodon web interface obsessed with showing me a blank column on the right? My four column layout is now a six column layout that doesn't fit in the window and also two of them are blank! This is horrible.
@jwz agree it kind of stinks; I just opted to ignore it with uBlock and https://mastodon.social/@jgilbert/117499845909450316 which I hope is available to your setup
congrats to clément on the big box collectors group for completing his eidos stargate 🙏
@vga256 Haha, incredible!!

Hello,
Thank you for posting those aricles. I wouldn’t worry too much about crossposting, as you can see from the comments, there are apps and other software that deals with this better, so you shouldn’t refrain too much.
Folks, please share the link for our Fediverse Multimedia Grants.
We have funding for creators to make podcasts, artist's portfolios, webcomics, music stores, video streams, or brand new kinds of channels here. And we pay developers to help them be successful.
Our deadline is Wed 4 Nov 2026. It only takes a few minutes to apply.

ArchiveOfOurOwn (AKA AO3, run by the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW)) has been down for a few days due to a security incident. In the wake of that security incident, a site called AO3.life has cropped up. At some point, they scraped what appears to be most (if not all ... I've got no way to check that myself) of the fics on AO3 including ones that were only available to logged-in users.
In addition to providing these fics (some of which were specifically not intended for broader consumption) on their site, they're trying to get readers to pay for audio editions of the stories.
They have some dodgy and technically impossible steps if you are an AO3 author and want to take your fics down.
OTW is aware and is taking legal action but they warn that the legal system is slow. They advise that you do not attempt to use AO3.life's requested method since it may expose you to additional dangers regarding your private information.
@wxhbxh I'm not a gamer, but seems the good folks working on Godot have already done a fair amount on that... Have you come across it already?
@lightweight it seems I have some reading up to do, thanks! :)
