We could start a buy/sell/swap space using existing Lemmy technology, if we left the messy details for users to figure out foe themselves.

Messy details add up quick, though. Payments, currencies, mailing addresses, reputation, conflict resultion, returns, scammers.

But “Craigs List” solved basically none of that on day one, and went on to be pretty successful.

So it’s possible.

@Xibanya Polese really that your Italian followers on the Fediverse are pressuring you to redouble your efforts instead, and they are more powerful on account of being in the z Fediverse.

Drive up prices, cram seats together so only 4’6” passengers are comfortable, bump up their bonuses, THEN bankrupt the company and blame their low-level employees for wanting to pay rent and eat.

My understanding is federated “payment” systems are difficult. I think there is active discussion on the topic, but I’m not sure where code/development is at, or if it’s even started.

I think flohmarkt ("federated decentral classified ad software") is the closest we have right now. It has low (~10-30) Monthly Active Users (MAU), but is in active development.

@SRLevine @SRDas I think our take away was we'd add MOAR blue cheese as the sharp with the custard base and blueberry compote and fresh berries swirled in at the last minute was SO good.

Management will now proceed to bankrupt the company out of spite.

You can but iirc it takes quite a bit of bidirectional effort to enable that. Thankfully!

At this point power and status bores them, they’re at the stage where they have to kill some of the poors for sport and sadistic pleasure to feel something other than disdain for their spouses and children.

That’s the neat part: you don’t! You need to work a lot and barely survive so rich people can get richer and have more power and status, silly.

#ThoughtProvoker 🤔

With 200 respondents on the #poll the results indicate that one third of fedizens feel that #Mastodon and #fediverse are the same.

This is an unsurprising outcome, since #ActivityPub - at its heart a very flexible and powerful communication protocol, yet underspecified - has seen primarily uptake and adoption in one narrow field of #SocialNetworking:

The federated #Microblog.

And there is very little incentive in the developer ecosystem to bring change to that, making it a fait accompli.

👋 Welcome to the world of #microblogging, the mastodon or fediverse.

Weird, it accidentally has the exact same colour as a nearby country

Somebody rich said something. They’re obviously smart because only smart people, like me, get rich (some day!). Therefore, I agree that the poor are taking way too much! The rich deserve it more!

I want to see the stock market chart for "jokes about the number 4 being secure"

fedia.social seems to alternate between uptime and downtime over the past couple of days. I realised that infosec.town and a few other instances operated by @jerry@infosec.pub face(d) the same issue. Any pointers as to what the problem might be? Thanks!

@nomdeb @SRDas I'm always tempted to do those sweet/savory cheese ice creams myself (I lived walking distance to a salt & straw in portland), but I've never actually gone for it. Maybe I should plan on it next batch, presuming I find a cheese on sale that would work.

@dangillmor Will not be renewing again. Honestly, I’d noticed there had been a distinct change in the articles and topics chosen. Also noted there were more short articles with simpler vocabulary and clickbait type titles and subheadings. Sigh.
